Stunning, flat, hard standing, Car Free (*apart from through Wadebridge town) cycle and walking trail. Choose to park at Wenford Bridge and cycle the full 18miles(and 36 miles back) to Padstow. Ample bike parking including paid indoor secure bicycle parking at Padstow.
Multiple car parks and bike hire along the route to taylor the distance to your ability. Tea Rooms and pubs along the route add end destinations and stops as you need. Stunning scenery from woodlands to fields, rivers and estuaries. Great wifelife. Go at your own pace.
The bit between Wadebridge and Padstow can get bust, but a little give and take by feet and wheels makes a pleasant ride. Most car parks beyond Bodmin are free to park.
* At Wadebridge the trail goes through the town centre. Unfortunately it passes onto the road for a bit. However there are footpaths to walk the short distance to the next Car Free section. Note: At Padstow - in the Busy season Padstow can get very busy especially if your trying to wheel a bike through crowds. The trail over the other side to the beach is No Cycling. So I would recommend locking up your cycle at the end of the trail to go and explore town & beach on foot.
Brilliant day riding the Camel Trail from Wenfordbridge to Padstow and back roughly 36 miles. The trail is lovely and flat so very enjoyable. Wenford to Wadebridge is through the forest so it can get muddy! The rewards in Padstow are great pasties, pints, fish and chips, fudge lots of treats. Highly recommended this! Have fun!! ????
It's a nice long ride but Wadebridge to the snails pace café is a bit bumpy and rough I would prefer the tarka
At the moor end of the trail it is much less busy, easy to park, nice little cafe. Lovely quiet place to walk.
The camel trail is a lovely ride. But be warned it does get very busy in school holidays and summer months. If you intend doing the full ride allow at least four hours.
Free car park (still free on 03/04/19) for when you're using the camel trail. Bus stop also close at road junction. Cafe opposite car park. We parked the car & got the bus to Bodmin & walked the camel trail back to Wenford Bridge, approx 6.5 miles (no facilities between the two).
Plenty of parking mid week and nice little coffee shop.
Great little cafe much needed after cycling the camel trail to padstow and back
