Took mum aged 82 for a hip X-ray, mum had lost her prescription letter but I’d photographed it on my phone. Then we were 25 minutes late, are all old people so damn stubborn? Don’t be too harsh as I’m sixty and suppose I’m not that far off…!
Spoke to the radiographer Paul, needed the letter but suggested I sent the photograph of the letter by email, he was superb with mum as were all the staff, understanding, compassionate, caring and just lovely people.
The hospital is a gem and the people within are just lovely.
After having surgery at Stepping Hill I needed to arrange for my staples to be removed. The fantastic team at BCH have very much looked after me, making sure everything is ok and helping me with aftercare. Like any NHS service they are under pressure, however they don’t let that stop them from doing everything they can for you.

Three years ago I received a poor service when I attended Buxton hospital after breaking my foot & I put it down to Covid but it wasn't, it was a rude and uncaring practitioner.
On Sunday 31st May my son trapped his finger in the car door on arriving home from work at 6.15pm. There was a LOT of blood so I wrapped his hand in a tea towel & took him to Buxton hospital. We were told they were busy & it would be a long wait. There were 4 x people before of us, two of which were young children, running around & playing happily.
I asked for water for my son as there was none available, so he could take pain killers but we didn't get any.
Despite bleeding badly he wasn't seen for an hour and we were told they couldn't xray him & we would have to go elsewhere. We could have been given this information upon arrival.
We went to Stepping Hill where he was triaged, xrayed, wound dressed and on our way home with a course of antibiotics within the hour.
The service and facilities at Buxton are awful and need addressing.
Next time I need to take anyone to emergency care I'll go elsewhere
I have a really worrying injury to my foot causing extreme pain and discomfort. My doctor recommended that I contacted an Urgent Treatment Centre and I visited Buxton. The reception arrangements were excellent, I was seen quickly and had an Xray the result of which gave me great reassurance that I had not broken my foot as I had 'only' suffered acute soft tissue damage.
The staff were friendly, kind and helpful. Nothing Could have been improved upon. Thank All Concerned Vey Much!
After a fall with a suspected broken ankle my friend took me to Buxton hospital on a Monday morning. We arrived at about 10.30am However the waiting room was packed to overflowing. After a two hour wait I was called in only to be told they were too busy and to return the following morning at 9.30. What a difference a day makes. Completely empty waiting room, assessed, x rayed and result all within an hour. Great cottage hospital, lovely friendly staff, big thank you to Helen Davies for her professionalism and care.

Today was my second visit with these 2 lovely ladies. My toe nail surgery wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be as Lou and Terri were extremely calming and compassionate and explained everything in a caring manner. Every credit to them for what they do. I had hoped it was going to be Lou doing my surgery as she was very reassuring at my pre op
Just visited this evening with my little girl . We are camping and she became unwell with strep A. We were straight in and seen by Jo ( she was amazing) .
Antibiotics given and off We went in about 20 minutes. Amazing service..
