We have just had a joint 60th birthday weekend for a group of school friends travelling from as far afield as Sydney Australia. The property is utterly idyllic, both comfortable and quaint. We booked a local chef to treat us to a feast on the Saturday night served in the 17th century dining room .|We were welcomed with cakes and Romney was always unobtrusively available.|Very good
I stayed here for some time away with my two daughters and we were all enchanted by the wonderful atmosphere of history and comfort combined, and the feeling of being in a big, cheerful family house for the night. Especially loved the gorgeous bathrooms with their claw-footed baths, and the great four-poster bed in our room. Romney made us feel completely at home and gave us tea and hot cross buns when we arrived, and a lavish breakfast the following morning with plenty of fruit, croissants, cereal etc and endless pots of tea and coffee. The walk we took to the weir and the church was really lovely, and Buscot itself is so pretty. Can't recommend highly enough.
Just back from another stay at the beautiful Buscot Manor. We always feel so welcome and Romney, the owner is so friendly and helpful. The Manor is tastefully decorated with old fashioned charm, and we love the four poster beds! Very comfy and leave you refreshed for the day ahead. Breakfast is varied, and shared around a beautiful central dining table. Buscot Manor is ideally situated to visit the beautiful Cotswolds, Oxford and surrounding areas, which is useful for me having family and friends in the area. Will be back again I’m sure.
My partner and I recently stayed and were really surprised by this place as we had read such good reviews. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t particularly positive. The house manager was pleasant and the bed was comfortable but that’s where the positives stop. ||||It was very unclean. There was dust and dead bugs all over the bedroom, hair in the bath, used bars of soap, and soap scum round the sink. The bathroom was not en-suite and it didn’t have a shower. We were also disappointed that you couldn’t lock the room from the outside when you went out.||||Breakfast left a lot to be desired. There were flies around the bread, the fruit looked days old, the yogurts were warm and one looked half open. The same food was put out both days which didn’t strike us as particularly hygienic given there were plates of meat and cheese. ||||Very late check in and overall just not good value.
Buscot Manor is a 17th century house that has the charm of old mansions : you could imagine yourself in some Agatha Christie novel where Poirot is investigating. In fact, this is not a conventional B&B and is more as if you were staying in some family. Rooms have no en-suite bathroom or toilet but there is a small sink which is practical to brush your teeth or shave. But for the loo or shower, you need to share 2 bathrooms with the other rooms in the same floor (4 in total if all are being used). We were a bit concerned about using the bathroom at night, but it wasn't that of an issue. We liked the place but indeed our room would have required a good thorough hoover session as there was quite a bit of dust accumulated (if you're allergic that is something to take into account). Bed would need an uplift as it is quite a bit soft. And the cold water sink will indeed pour lukewarm water but if you let it flow for about 2 min, it will be cold as expected. Breakfast was ample and included fresh fruits which was nice. Wasn't hungry enough for a cooked breakfast (with supplement) so can't comment on this.
Beautiful, charming Manor house with first class service to suit your needs. Just come back from a New Years Eve get away and can't fault the place one bit. ||As described by previous people its like a home from home.||A very welcoming, kind and laid back place to stay. ||I stayed here with my two children and they made us feel very welcome.||Would deffo recommend.||Thanks for a lovely stay.||Love from||Rachel, Rylan and Mylah
I was welcomed by the lovely lady owner who showed me to my room and offered tea served in the drawing room.
Room was very cosy with huge four-poster bed, made up with a down duvet and pillows. It even had a sofa to lounge on.
Continental breakfast was beautifully presented with so much choice, I was even offered cooked breakfast but there was more than enough to choose from.
I felt very welcome and can see why they have been awarded AA 5stars. A real country retreat.
The house on arrival looked stunning - typical Cotswold charm with gravel driveway and lots of character. However, the room we stayed in was dark, dirty (rugs not vacuumed and dusty surfaces) but our biggest bugbear was the bedding which felt and smelled unwashed. The bathroom (which was large) is across the hallway with roll top bath but no shower. Dressing gowns were provided which again looked old, scruffy and used - so we didn’t use them. Breakfast was disappointing - croissants, bread, cereal, fruit - but nothing out of the very ordinary.. Walks close by are lovely - along Thames canal path - which was the only saving grace. We were disappointed to say the least and wouldn’t stay here again. Not good value for money.
