Great day out, we were lucky with the weather, kids had a great time playing in the river and it felt a really safe place for them to do so. We paid £10 to park for the day and plenty of parking. Toilets were on site definitely going back
We have been coming here for 20 years or more, as it's a lovely unspoiled spot to bring children. On a sunny day, it can be quite busy, but it is always a beautiful place for a picnic, a paddle in the river, and to play games on the grass area.
There is no supervision of any sort, so do not let children near the river unless they are watched by adults. The water is very rocky, so water footwear is best if you have any. Otherwise, just skim stones from the edge. It is not a place for swimming.
There is an unmanned barrier to gain access, with card only payment on exit. The cost at £10 feels like a lot, but it's much easier having your car with you than parking elsewhere and walking in.
What you do get for your money is a magnificently maintained toilet area, which looks to have been very recently upgraded and would not look out of place in a hotel!
Another advantage of this site is the entire absence of anything commercial for the children to insist that you buy for them - though obviously ice creams and a pub is available in the very close by village itself.
On our recent visit, we spent 3 hours there in fairly overcast, windy, but pleasant weather. Shade is limited, so take suncream, hats, and umbrellas on hot days. Take all your own food and water, too.
Just a gated field next to the river but a great place for a day out with family, friends and dogs. There's a £10 exit fee for each vehicle and there are clean, looked after, toilets also available. Both times I have been there has also been an ice cream van on site. Take a picnic and water shoes and just generally chill out.
Theres a pub across the bridge if you want a drink (food also available if you don't want to picnic).
You can stroll alongside the river to Hebden Suspension Bridge and turn back, or carry on and follow the road back to where you parked.
Breathtaking! We love Burnsall, and there are a couple of lovely places that serve food nearby, there are car parks too.
It is a lovely place for picnic and BBQ . You don’t need to book in advance ,you just pay when you Leave 7pm.good for family and friends.very convenient for kids activities football, playing and sailing in the river with small boats ????.my son really enjoyed today.
Very friendly and polite staffs. They charge you only £10 with your car .I think £2 for bicycles. good service, you get nice ice cream ????.generally clean .very clean toilets available for gents, ladies, disabled and baby change.I definitely recommend it and will be back again.
A lovely dales village. A small car park with toilets (maintained by the community, so you need to make a monetary contribution if you use them), a nice pub and a recomended lovely cafe. Fast flowing river, old Bridge and lovely river side walks. This is a beautiful place that you need to respect. Dont BBQ take all your litter home and remember it's a peaceful lovely Dale's village, not Blackpool sea front.
This is generally a great place to visit and would have always given 5 stars previously. There is a huge area of land to park in but it fills up pretty quickly. A big stretch of river to play in which is great and pockets of space scattered about the field to play football, cricket and other games in One thing that needs improvement in my opinion is the parking management. We got there quite early to get a spot at the Riverside which we did and all the cars near us were parked sensibly giving each other enough room to set up. However throughout the day there is a constant stream of cars coming in even around the 5pm entrance deadline and trying to park near the river side despite places already being full. Cars were trying to squeeze into tiny spots and even parking directly behind other vehicles blocking them in. There were several arguments over such behaviour just around the area I was. This is not a sleight on the owners or staff but on selfish people. The toilet facilities were constantly backed up with queues also but It was a bank holiday so may have been busier than usual. The price for parking has gone up to £10 so it would be nice to see some management of parking to prevent these kinds of situations happening on busy days.
Awesome.
Wat a lovely safe & place to enjoy a day out with friends and family.
Clean , close to nature , bbq facility and clean newly refurbished toilets.
Staff is sometimes rigid but still i appreciate them. Parking has increased from £8 to £10 for whole day. NO disable badge holders discount.
Last entry is 5pm.
Gates close at 7pm..
Perfect place for getting together & picnics with friends too.
Water bank makes this park even more enjoyable. Water isn't deep so it is safe for kids to play.
Onsite ice cream mobile shop is again a + point.
Don't forget ur aqua shoes and inflatables (if u have), they r a must !!
Don't forget big bin bags as you'd need them to bring ur trash with u on ur way back. (No bins there)
