Best KPortal Reviews
The best welcome you could wish for which made us keep going back unlike some of the other pubs in Aberdovey. We were a group of 8 and so would all sit in the snug together if no room in the bar area which was perfect. Great atmosphere, cosy, homely feel. We ate one evening - all food is upstairs. Lovely room all Christmassy. Food was excellent and much better than pub grub. No kids in the bar which is also great but kids are allowed in the snug I believe. Gary and Shona are fabulous hosts and deserve a special mention. Also the young staff should have a special thank you. We will go back and wouldn’t hesitate to spend the afternoon in their pub - home from home. Thank you both so much xx
Great place for a drink whilst watching sport. Barstaff excellent and beer is perfect. Sea view in the bar too. I must try the restaurant before I leave.
Superb little pub. Small but excellent selection of real ale, whisky and gin.
Landlady really friendly and made me and my colleague feel very welcome on a dark and windy November night.
Only had drinks, so can't comment on food etc but will def return if we're back in the area.
Staff working hard but the Landlord wasn't
Rather sullen and couldn't be bothered when customers were waiting for drinks
Saturday evening March 16th back bar
This has easily become our favourite pub, atmosphere is amazing, it feels like a family in there, everyone in there is happy to converse, we ended up playing cards with people sitting next to us!
My wife and I have visited the Brit many times over the course of 10 years, and therefore have seen the change over in ownership, and we are made to feel so welcome every time we walk through the doors. We are in aberdovey at the moment and we haven’t been since July this year, and soon as we walked into the Brit, gary welcomed us and said ‘hello you two! Not seen you in a few months’, which automatically makes us feel at home. We have also eaten in the restaurant and we can not fault any meal that we have had. If you want a local pub away from home, then the Brit is definitely the one to visit. We’ll be back, as always.
As a group of 3 we did not book but took pot luck to get a table. We read mixed reviews prior to visiting but we're pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was lovely. Food, the best I've had in the village. We read reviews prior to visiting which were mixed. The bar was excellent. The restaurant service was very good. The food best I have had so far in 6 days. The ambience was good. The views excellent. I can't praise our visit enough.
My family had an evening meal at ‘the Brit’ two weeks ago. The food was just ok, but I was really shocked to find out that we had been charged £4 for tap water after a long hot day at the beach. My son plucked up the courage to explain to the waiter that we’d only had tap water ( he saw them pouring it) but the waiter told him the manager has told them they have to charge for it - £4!!! |I believe that this is illegal in England and Wales as well as being a breach of their license. However, having now read the other recent trip advisor reviews, it appears maximising profits far outweighs customer service at the Brit now????. My family and friends were all shocked when I told them and none of us will go to the Brittania again. Such a shame as it used to be so lovely????
