Popped in here after a dog walk in Bones Wood…and love it!
Can take well behaved dogs in, roomy with super friendly staff.
Nice menu, rosemary chips were delicious and can imagine being in here on a cold day!
Great place for a coffee/pastry after a walk through the surrounding area. There is a nice open fire in the middle so has a cosy feel to the place and there are sheepskins on the seats. I'll definitely visit again!
Lovely coffe and cake stop on my dog walk. The cruffin was amazing! Dog friendly and lots of outdoor seating too.
Place was quite good for big group with young kids and staff were friendly enough. But very draughty and basic. Also toilets were a few mins walk away in main pub and they closed kitchen at 5 on a Saturday!!
For what it is, I'm not too sure how they can justify £6.80 per pint of lager, £3.70 for small bottle of coke, and £14 for veggie burger and chips?!! Final bill, including a 12.5% service charge, was pretty horrendous TBH.
All in all it was a an ok place, but probably too expensive for those on a modest budget.
Nice pizzas, a bit small but delicious. Staff was friendly but the place is a bit dirty because of the bark flooring. Loved the big firepit in the middle.
Very very slow service, over priced beer. And not much choice. The coffee is £3.00 for a small cup and i wouldn’t buy it again. Below average.
It’s very cold in the barn so wrap up warm and with the open fire you will leave smelling of smoke. So ladies you will need to wash your hair for sure. Very disappointing after driving 40 mins to this place. So I would say don’t waste your time.
Massive disappointment.
After a superb lunch at the pub we were looking forward to trying the burgers and pizzas at the barn, which we’d heard a lot of positives about.
We arrived on time for our Sunday lunch booking and initial service was friendly and prompt.
Disappointingly, no pizzas were being served but the burgers looked nice so we ordered. And waited. And waited. And eventually they came. We asked for some ketchup. Which seemed to be a huge imposition. And never came, despite us watching the very same server taking pots to other tables. Odd.
The burgers were somehow over cooked, yet at the same time cheese wasn’t properly melted. The buns were dry and crumbly, not what you expect from brioche, because they were stale. So stale we couldn’t eat them. I don’t understand how any chef could let stale food leave their kitchen. How you can charge £14 for something so poor is beyond me.
The chips were nice though, except for the £2 cheese sauce poured over one portion, which is a joke price really for a spoonful of not very tasty gloop.
I thought about complaining, but the staff were inattentive and didn’t even ask me how the meal was when I paid.
I won’t be going back and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else does either.
Given the reputation of the Bottle & Glass, and positive word of mouth, I was really looking forward to going along for lunch. The menu sounded interesting. I had no idea what 'Nduja & jalapeno stew' was, so I asked the person serving, and was told it was a sausage. Sounded great, so I ordered with the thought of a succulent burger laden with sausage (wondering why it was a stew). What came out was hugely disappointing. The brioche bun was the worst I have had in years, dry/awful. The burger was a pathetically small and dry patty. The 'stew' was a thin smearing of a red paste, which I didn't even notice, let alone being 'seriously hot'. Others had the Chicken Burger, being thigh meat. wasn't that great but ok. The Hot Dog was ok ...would be incredible to mess that up. The best value appeared to be the Chicken Wings which looked huge. The person eating with us didn't finish them (seems to be normal for him). The chips were ok. I would never order a burger there again, but the location/environment is 'fun'. Note that the open fire inside the barn is very smoky. As we chose to eat inside, our clothes carried the smell for quite some time. The bark flooring is a little inconvenient for a fluffy wagging tail, or eating small 'doggie bites'. All in all, I am amazed that the Bottle & Glass would want the Barn associated with them.
