Well Botley Surgery is no more, this is good news as the Surgery was absolutely useless.
The surgery is now known as Elms Road Medical Center and my experience over the first day (2/10/2023) has been fantastic.
Looking forward to many years of great care.
Group of absolute wastes of space. I recently moved away from Botley, but had some open medical issues that were being dealt with through the medical centre. Though issues were outstanding they insisted that I register with a neighbouring medical centre. They referred me to the Churchill for the open medical issue. I contacted Churchill for an appointment, but they were all booked up and I got put on a waiting list. Botley cancelled my referral, without contacting me. Of course in the mean time my medical issue has hardly gotten any better.
If you can avoid the Botley medical centre, I absolutely recommend you do.
Really great front of house staff - always helpful and compassionate. Very happy with appointments now being on line - I can always speak to a doctor or clinician. Had an informative medicine review and was able to see a nurse within in few days.
Well done Botley!
A very sad state of affairs. The Doctors are actually very good, BUT it is getting to them that is the huge problem. This is probably the worst place ever for access. I don’t blame the DR’s for quitting. What sort of place only offers appointments at 8am, for the same day.I called wanting to book a non urgent appointment at 3 pm ish and was told ring back at 8am , we only do on the day appointments! Why? No other practice in Oxfordshire does this?
I was also told if you want an appointment don’t ring in the afternoon as they have all gone!
Who on earth is running this?who has decided this system? I really feel for the Dr when having to put up with the below btec managment skills
Shocking service... this place needs to go. The non service that my nan received in her end of life care is quite unbelievable. The family will be making a complaint to the highest level. Even when the paramedic were seeing to my nan and they tried to call the surgery themselves, they was shocked with the time it took. This is how incompetent they are.. they lost my nans paperwork so we could register her death and already we are on the 5th day.
This is the worst GP ever. If I can leave as 0 star on the review, I would do it. 1 star is even too much.
It is impossible to make an appointment with a doctor when you are not well, or you need medicine.
I think if even you are very ill, you phone the GP in the afternoon, you will not get and help because you phone them in the afternoon and they are not available. It needs phone them in the morning.
However, r you phone them 8:00 in the morning, you have to wait the doctor’s PHONE CALL. You should not use my phone for another phone call, no shower, no driving and make sure the phone is on signal. If you miss the phone call, they not give you call. You must start again next day. sometime even they not phone you and just text me said it is not able to contact you and not give a call then you have to start again next day.
I know they receive many phone calls, the receptionist said they received 100s of people on the list per day. However, it cannot be the reason for Botley Medical Centre not giving medical service properly when the patients need it. it should hire more people or improve the service or do something. They cannot ignore the patients or not provide the service. Also, NHS GPs are not free.
I was reasonably happy with this surgery, they have fantastic professionals but the last 10 months have been really hard. I do not know if it has to do with the pandemic or shortage of staff, but the protocol they have in place does not work right now. I am not blaming the staff, but the system. The system in place does not work and needs to be changed. It is impracticable.
The website is unclear, the phone appointments are given on the day but if you call early on the day they say that it is all booked and ask you to call the next day. The following day they try to convince you that you did not call early enough the previous day, etc. It is always on you, never them.
As a result of this, I cannot get a GP appointment, I cannot get an appointment with the nurse for injections in spite of having a chronic illness that requires treatment monthly otherwise I am not able to work or do normal life. The way I am treated when I try again and again to fight for myself is not very comforting.
Last week I was told that I am not calling enough after I was working from home with high fever because I could not speak to my GP for a sick note. I ended up having to speak to the duty doctor who told me it was impossible for me to get a sick note, since my GP was not in the building when I was calling.
How many times does an autistic person in constant and intense pain with high fever has to call to speak to a doctor? Is 3, 4 times not enough? No, they said I should have called more often. So... is it my fault that I am not provided medical attention? They seem to think that it is. But I have spoken to other people who have the same problem that I have. So this is a generalised situation.
I am aware that these are difficult times, but the amount of people who cannot speak to a doctor and get treated badly for trying to get medical attention is too high. If I spoke to people the way they speak to me at my workplace, I would get in real trouble.
Patient attention, customer service and appointments system is terrible. I’m fed up of frustration and endless waiting time at phone every time I need to book an appointment. Every time I call I’m asked to call next day, next week… they never have enough staff. And once you finally get to speak with the doctor she says that she is only able to discuss “one” of your issues!!! That was shocking! for the other issue that seems no so urgent she asked to call next week, which means more hours of chasing an appointment again…. The worst experience in health care I ever have. I’m changing GP as soon I can.
