My visit today was to get breakfast. The services was pretty quiet when I arrived. The various stores were clean and tidy. WH Smiths had a wide assortment of food and drink available. My visit to Costa was quick and straightforward. Staff thought the services were friendly and helpful.
All amenities and shell uk fuels and key fuels accepted. Toilets and Starbucks machine. In car carpark there's a van called sabastianos that sells fresh made pizza in a proper pizza oven great pizza but a bit expensive. Plenty of hgv parking and other shops in centre like Costa newsagents and arcades. Staff in petrol garage are a good laugh and very efficient
OK. Cairn lodge just down the road is better, but harder to access.
It was disappointing to look out at the view to see giant bright adverts everywhere. I’m glad I only came here by accident so I feel bad for anyone expecting more than 2 shops, oh and don’t forget the gambling station! Can’t be a services without addicting capitalism!! On a nice note, the staff where lovely.
Moronic design of the filter bollards to get into the carpark forces you to almost have to stop at night, or in heavy rain, to make sure you are not going to clip the kerbs on entry. Who thought this was a good idea!?!
Service was very poor as well. There was two girls tending the dining area when I last went (18th Dec) and only one other customer; still had to wait several minutes to get served though, and despite only ordering a single coffee they managed to completely screw that up and make the wrong one... They weren't exactly friendly either! How is it even possible to be that bad at your job?
Southbound only. Just a Costa and a WH Smiths. Oddly, you had to request your food from the counter staff at the Costa rather than taking what you wanted from a cabinet. Perhaps the cabinet cooling system was faulty. However, the staff were pleasant and the food choice was much the same as usual.
One very strange thing was the tiny chicane to get into the car park. We only saw it at the last moment in the wet weather and it's really tight even for our smallish car. Why?
Another great place to stop off and eat
The overnight hgv parking was free because the showers and toilets where out of order in the main building although the forecourt toilets where available, not a bad experience, I think this place gets more bad reviews than it deserves, I've been in far worse places.
