Absolutely love it, foods great, drinks great and service all great, only thing I'd suggest is some less door music, can be quite off putting when someone struggling but meets up for a coffee and it's emotional music playing but other than that the perfect place for cuppa and wee lunch!
A group of 4 of us and our dog stopped and had a very pleasant late lunch/tea. The welcome and desire to meet our wishes was first rate. Excellent soup, cake and coffee and local eggs ( to take home).
This was a real eye opener on how bad service can be,
It wasn't too busy so expected as all customers do a prompt service. We were seated nearly 10 minutes before our order was taken. The food came, with no cutlery and no drinks, so I had to go up to the counter to ask.
One very important hygiene issue, they allow dogs in, which there are no signs outside to say, and I had to ask the staff to stop their own dog wondering about between our legs and other paying customers looking for scraps of food which is absolutely disgusting in a place that sells food.
I love dogs but not in food places, just because you like dogs doesn't mean your paying customers should, especially with not one sign to warn you
The tables around us mostly were left for over 30 minutes uncleared, again the place wasn't too busy. The cakes have no prices in any obvious place for customers that want take away, which is obviously designed to maximise profits.
No food information at the cakes to make decisions on allergy or what's in the cake. Whilst I appreciate places lack great service when they are busy, but this wasn't by a long shot. The service was terrible and took ages, with dogs roaming about, so unhygienic but that complacency for you. It would really benefit from effective management and actual proper customer focus. I wouldn't recommend this place for its sheer lack of modern hygiene standards, allowing dogs to roam about hoovering up scraps is absolutely disgusting.
The food wasn't too great either, the coleslaw was mostly onions, about 5 crisps and some lank salad with a cheese toasty. I really had high expectations of this place but sadly it had not lived up to any of those expectations.
I don't get how owners of these places can get it so wrong with slow poor service, we are all customers and we all know what the bare minimum is to be a good service.
I will always praise great customer service but not on this occasion.
And if you have any type of nut allergy don't use, as the same knife is used for cutting all cakes, with the odd wipe of a cloth, so real chance of cross contamination. Also offered white or brown bread, at no point were we told the brown bread was seeded. Basic basic stuff, that is shear luck nobody has had a serious reaction to their lack of cross contamination prevention, a quick wipe with same cloth for cutting cakes isn't a control measure.
Waited for over 15 minutes to be served then refreshments took another 15 minutes at arrive. Lunch arrived eith no cutlery, had to go find someone to ask for them.
Owners dog walking about shop freely eating crumbs from the floor.
Lacks basic customer service.
Lunch was a lux hot chocolate and ham and cheese panini with cranberries and chunky chips- both delicious but the hot chocolate was pure indulgent luxury!
Staff really friendly and dogs welcomed and served fresh dog gin (water) we couldn’t resist taking away a slice of cake for later ???? if you’re passing- pop in!! Lush place!
So lovely and friendly ladys food amazing so clean and tidy very woof friendly 5???? first time there be back again. P.S mm Cakes are lush.
Much more than meringues, rocky roads, cheesecake, millionaires shortbread etc, fresh daily. I had a breakfast roll with bacon and a latte, it really hit the spot. We were seated in the retail area, but apparently there's much more on the other side i.e. a library. It's adjacent to a camping and caravaning ground but it wasn't busy when we were in at 1000.
Lovely cafe just opposite the petrol station. Be aware of the dessert display, it's hard to leave without getting a treat for the way home.
