Utterly disgraceful hostel. The picture is all I need to show really. Rubbish everywhere, beds had been slept in and not changed. If There was a fire in the night there could be serious trouble. Dont waste your time even considering this place!
Easy stop for a quick beer. Not the greatest pub I’ve been to - thick smell of candy vape and beer - but definitely full of character. Could be described as a dive bar.
This place is no longer a backpackers hostel. It is now run as a place for homeless people who the local council place there. The pub, which is called the Great Western, is still open and is a great pub , it does serve some food but the choices are limited
I very rarely make the effort to leave a review but I have had a particularly bad experience at this hostel and seen others endure the same . I have seen one staff member use the rules to vindictively throw people out . I have watched her try to throw someone out for a slight raise of voice (which was necessary as they moved his room 4 times just to accommodate new arrivals.. And some urinated on his clothes .... And I was also evicted for loud voice on a Friday night at 10pm.which frankly who is asleep at 10pm on a Friday . In a town like queenstown it's hard to find accommodation and they have no respect for the people that stay in their hostel.. You can't drink after 830 which is the craziest rule in my whole time of being in hostels I've ever come Accross you can't eat or drink in the living room only in the kitchen and you cannot speak louder than whisper after 10pm . They offer long term rates in the quiet months but use any excuse to get rid of you when they have had their fair share of money from you!!

Site is a little dated but can't argue for the price.

Located right next to the train station, a few mins walk downhill to Abergavenny.
Taxi is about £5-6 from Abergavenny if you don't want to tackle the hill on the return.
Would definitely return.
Had the football game on TV. Served a good pint and got my phone charged. Flying visit as opposite Abergavenny train station.
Great place to stop for a pint before getting on the train - also good to see people from all over the world staying here and visiting this part of the country
The beer was cold i had a good chat with the bloke who was working got plenty of information i needed for someone else !
