26/04/24 Having ordered and paid by card for 2 coffees I checked my bank account to find I had been charged £8.90, yes £8.90 for 2 coffees!! I went back in and told the lovely girl I had been overcharged, oh no she said we charge £1 for card use under £10. I was not told this when I ordered, totally illegal, that practice was outlawed years ago. Sadly will not be going again.
We love this place. It's in a beautiful setting with a play area for kids. The staff are so warm and friendly and the food is delicious, proper home cooked fresh dishes. You can tell the chef loves to cook.
We knew that this cafe was pricey but it was insane when 3 small chips, gravy and a quiche was 35 quid. When we arrived at around 1 it was half full and they warned us it would take 30 mins for food to arrive but it actually took an hour and the food was quite underwhelming considering the wait. The kids meal was the worst meal I have ever seen. It consisted of half a mini pizza, a mini ketchup packet? , 1 slice of an orange and cucumber (YES 1 little slice) and a cupcake and was basically all food bought from a supermarket. And the icing on top of the cake was the hygiene, we were sat in the corner and it was filled with bugs and spiders, my sister was scared half to death! Not worth the time or the money.
To echo many previous reviews, the owner is manipulating bills like they were in a tourist trap promenade overseas. The business model of routinely overcharging people on their bills is not sustainable. Expect a visit from Gwynedd Council Trading Standards.
Poor quality, freshly defrosted, cling wrapped cakes.
Three slices of cake, two scoops of the cheapest ice cream and three bottled/canned soft drinks £33 … readers will make up their own minds about the bill!!Would not return, even though I’m local.
Lovely cafe with an emphasis on freshly baked cakes. The Bara Brith was outstanding. Friendly service and very reasonably priced.
We came here earlier this year and had a bit of a shock when 4 hot chocolates and 4 pieces of cake cost well over £40 which in my opinion is hugely over priced for the mediocre quality the lovely waitress even warned my wife when she paid that it's not cheap. Anywaye we gave them the benefit of the doubt then my wife bought an ice-cream at the weekend it was £3.80 for a cheap packet ice cream which is fine but the fact they rounded the price up to £4.00 without telling us because she used our card is absolutely disgraceful. We couldn't care less about the 20p it's the principal of taking more money off people without there consent. Hello it's 2023 who even charges for using a card anymore. It's a massive shame because we're seasonal members of the park and walk our dog a few times a week here but we will never go to the cafe again and couldn't recommend it now either ????
Such a shame as the staff all seem really friendly but the prices are eye watering! Kids were starving so forked out £9 each for a sandwich which was just cheap bread and cheese! Crazy! Sadly we had forgotten our packed lunches and this was the only option, cake was also expensive and dry! It's one of our favourite places to go walking, next time we will remember to bring our packed lunches!
Lovely coffee and cake, ok service but seriously over priced. Paid just under £20 for two coffees and two slices of cake. I'm sorry, but £4 for a latte and £5.95 for a slice of cake is extortionate. I would have reconsidered my choice if I had seen the price just for a bit of cake.
