Best KPortal Reviews

Excellent little pub with a great owner and sole staff member. Slightly above average pricing but with the atmosphere you get with it you don't feel bad for it. Excellent array of excellent cider, real ales and as I have recently found out too, a wide selection of fantastic cocktails that really bring out it's soft interior. And if you have the chance to see a live band in its rather small Interior you won't half feel cosy.
Nice micro pub that used to be the local butchers. It has kept the ceramic tiles and hooks on one wall as a reminder of its past. A small bar serves 3 ales, a selection of ciders, lagers, bottled beers and spirits - including a reasonable selection of gins. Friendly staff and locals make it a welcoming place to pop into
Fun environment, great selection of drinks. Lots of different flavoured gins and gin liquors. My favourite is rhubarb and ginger. Only downside is no smoking area so if you want to smoke you have to stand outside on the high street. Nice staff and regulars.
Let's get the good out of the way - the selection of beers and ciders was decent and not overpriced which was encouraging. The clientele was decent, the usual Coalville troglodytes don't seem to venture in here (presumably because of the lack of Carling), although when we went it was fairly quiet and a little bit lacking in atmosphere.
The main downside for myself was the service. In a business such as this where you have such a close connection with your customers, it's vital to make everyone feel welcome, especially your first timers. When we went in we actually felt like we were inconveniencing the proprietor and interrupting the conversation he was having with his mate. There was no attempt to engage us in conversation and it seemed like it broke him when we asked how much the round came to.
The idea of a micro pub isn't new but you need to offer something amazing, and offering staff with the personality of a salted slug isn't the way forward...
About time Coalville has something quirky and worth stopping for a pint, not very big inside but a lot to offer for its size a selection of real ales, ciders and some mainstream gaseous lager/bitters.
A big hand of appreciation for man in charge initiative and thank God it's not another charity shop, nailbar or hairdresser.
Well and truly recommended!
Fantastic micro pub in coalville centre, always a great variety of ales and ciders. Often great music and entertainment. Not forgetting one of the only local places you can buy tynt meadow trappist ale from. Brewed in st. Bernards Abbey up the road. Highly recommended.
Great ales and cocktails, live music in an intimate gem of a micro pub... highly recommended ????
Beer is stored outside in all weather. Not cold on tap surrounded by homes so not allowed load music if you use the rear exit be careful a lot of regulars use it for being sick. The place is a disgrace.
