Saturday evening, after a long hard day we thought to have a treat with no cooking. What a disappointment, the fish was obviously long time cooked, dry and barely warm. The batter was chewy it was that old, the male in the shop was constantly testing the heat of the fish in the hot box, they were breaking up they were that dry.

The chips were also dry and chewy, having tried the other chip shop in town I would advise not to bother with either.

£21 for 2 if it were of good quality would have been expensive but for utter rubbish it was ridiculous avoid avoid avoid

Well, we’d always used the other F&C shop in the town but thought we’d try the traditional one. The queue outside was encouraging and the reviews.

Big disappointment, chips good but the batter was only part cooked, inedible, back to Roosters I afraid.

Very good customer service, very pleasant and chatty staff. Good value for money, good portions and very tasty food. Nice to go to a chip shop that doesn't do pizza, kebabs and burgers. The more traditional chippy in my opinion, will definitely visit again when here ????

Omg disgusting fish n chips. Batter not cooked as when i opened the fish you could see the flour(bought in product) £19.00 for 2. Never again. Nasty taste left in mouth

Had Fish & Chips twice from here tonight and a large bottle of Dandelion & Burdock, The fish & chips were Excellent, lovely fresh Cod and great chips. The lady behind the counter was Lovely, Happy, Friendly and very professional. Looking forward to going back as soon as we can ????????

Fantastic service!

We are staying in a cottage in a nearby village and were able to phone up with a big order and simply drive down to collect it. Staff very helpful. Chips, scraps and peas absolutely gorgeous. Wish I lived nearer to make this my local chippy! Fish could be a bit tastier according to my family but allround great experience.

Great food and really lovely staff. A genuine old-style fish and chip shop. Terrific. One of the best thing is they wrap the fish and chips in paper!

Great chippy! I like the way they serve my fish and chips in paper the old fashioned way they taste better because they hold in the heat and keep them hot and soft. Totally dislike those boxes chips become dry and hard.

Wish they were open all week.
