Very nice cafe and small bookshop with free parking. Friendly staff, superb scones and enormous coffees! We had our dog so sat outside. Closes for the winter in October.
Food was okay. Beware, the bowl of chips for almost 4 pounds is literally a cappuccino mug of chips and the baguettes are not served warm, nor can the be warmed up... except in the microwave... server was polite but refused when asked if the baguette could be warmed up in the toastie machine. Also the bacon 'bits' or just 3 slabs of thick cut back bacon. I suppose everywhere is more expensive nowadays, that's on me.
It is a nice spot and staff are friendly, just temper your expectations regarding price/portions, and maybe extra specific when ordering. Thanks for the meal!
Really nice wee cafe with outside and side seating. Smashing cup of coffee and their home made scones are absolutely delicious! Great traffic free walks down to the beach too.
We visited this lovely café for lunch and some coffee before hiking up Beinn Laoighre (Ben Lora). Tasty food, quick service and friendly staff. Their toilet facilities were clean and indoors. Would definitely go again!
[Good Covid measures: Staff wore facemasks, the tables were spaced well apart from each other, and there were plenty of hand sanitizer available to visitors.]
I would also recommend the pink and blue grocery store across the road if you're looking for kindling, toiletries, car services, or grocery essentials.
There is also a recycling station, some benches and good parking opportunities. A great pit stop for car tourists, cyclists and campers.
The Ben Lora hike is an excellent day activity which will still leave you with plenty of energy left by the end. The track is mostly dirt road or grassy hillside, so not too scrambly. When you get to the top you'll get a 360° view which is well worth the moderate climb. The trek is about 10km, and we got to the top and back in ca. 2 hours and 15 mins.
Stopped by last Friday with my wife and three girls on a cycling tour. Had terrific tea and cakes in a lovely outdoor seating area. Raspberry scones were amazing! A real highlight - thanks so much.
Had coffee and cake , lovely coffee great service but underwhelmed by the cake , considering the prices
Best scones in Scotland, baked fresh every morning, raspberry is my favorite!
Visited in 2018 and now again in 2022, all the food is delicious and staff is very nice and attentive.
Lovely cafe in a convenient location. The outdoor seating is very well sheltered and it's fun watching the cyclist, walkers and day tripping families come and go.
Service was quick and friendly, and the food was good. I could have sat there for hours drinking my tea and working through the scone menu (treacle scone tasted great but very crumbly, should have gone for raspberry).
Lots of fun little personal touches in the signs and objects dotted around, and a small but varied range of books. It's also convenient for a quick stroll down to the beach.
