A beautiful, rural B&B with plenty of countryside charm. Rod is an excellent host who makes a great English breakfast (& coffee) & made our family feel very welcome. The location is great for local walks & wildlife, & only a short drive to local amenities in Wool. Perfect for visits to Lulworth Cove & the rest of the Jurassic Coast. Our room was spacious enough for 4 (2x adults, & 2 young children) and well cleaned inc. very fresh smelling sheets/cosy bed. Great value. Pleasure meeting you, Rod!
This is not the place to stay if you prefer standard, anodyne but perfect hotel rooms.||||If you're still reading, this is an old, classically furnished farmhouse with plenty of character, set on a downhill track not far from Lulworth, and surrounded by walks (we saw only the tractors harvesting). ||||We really enjoyed our stay, had long chats in the kitchen with Rod, the owner, who has a wealth of stories to tell, and, lucky with the weather, enjoyed time in the peaceful garden. Rod is a one off with wonderful tales of Thatching and garlic/onion selling in the area.||||Perfect for walkers, cyclists (if you don't mind hills), nature lovers.||||Tips..||Bring toiletries||Great food and service at the Ship in Wool||For something more special The Sailors Return in a very secluded but scenic spot was excellent!
the location is brilliant lots of walks around and 6-7 mins drive to lurworth cove and 10 mins to nearest town for shops. Rod the host is a retired thatcher and full of interesting stories to tell at breakfast time. you have to pay for cooked breakfast but the included cereals and bread from local bakery were just nice enough. getting evening food on a sunday would be a slight problem around, so would recommend planning in advance as most restaurants/takeaway/pubs are closed or stop serving food after 3-4pm on sunday.
We stayed in the 'attic' late August/September; the owner couldn't do more for us if we asked ... very warm and friendly man, open to requests and suggestions. We had our dog who was poorly while there - he recommended a vet, and accommodated our retriever in his garden to make life easier for us. Nothing was an issue. He even offered us cups of tea in his kitchen warmed by an Aga at supper time. We ended up staying for a week - he made us a bit too welcome - I think he started to believe we were moving in! Great location - 5 mins drive from Lulworth Cove and easy driving distance to many other places on a 'tourist' map. Lovely walks too from the farmhouse. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you Rod and your staff. :) . See you all in the summer, if not before!
This place is honestly the best B&B I've ever stayed in. The house in beautiful, located in a quiet setting, just a walk to the coast through some picturesque fields. Rod is the owner and is a complete dream - he makes the meanest breakfast and is so charming and welcoming. I wish we could have spent the day chatting with him but we'd had a busy weekend! The house itself is lovely with everything you would need from a B&B stay. Thank you for a lovely weekend Rod, we will be back!
This old renovated farmhouse has real character. Felt very homely. We had the ensuite room which was pretty cosy. The bed was squeaky but comfy. The host, Ron, was very kind and full of interesting stories. He made us a yummy breakfast in the morning and his dog Bindy was very friendly.
We had a very enjoyable stay here between Christmas and New Year. The owner was away but Tracey looked after us wonderfully well with delicious breakfasts and advice about which vet to visit when our dog hurt her paw. We had the family room which was comfortable and spacious. The farmhouse is in a very pretty setting in an idyllic valley which the website photos do not really do justice to. We would definitely recommend staying here!
Lovely little bed and breakfast near Wool. Rod was a great host and had plenty of great tips for local walks. Breakfast was amazing. All locally sourced. Can get more local than the chickens in the garden! We stayed there when attending a wedding at Lulworth Castle.
