Excellent service, Carla went the extra mile to help.
They're very busy, but always trying their best. To be honest I've never had a problem with them. They close between 1 and 2pm which isn't ideal but They're human, and need to lunch like the rest of us.
Absolutely terrible. Poor service. Rude, confrontational and defensive staff. Always left with the impression you've somehow offended them by asking them a question or, god forbid, expecting some level of courtesy and professionalism. Constant mistakes and missed items (which of course are never the fault of the pharmacy...).
Opening hours constantly reduced - to the point that they're now closed for TWO HOURS in the afternoon "to catch up". If there's so much work you're that busy, there's a simple solution - hire more staff. Just make sure they actually receive some customer service training unlike the current employees...
We're all stressed, we get it. Maybe there wouldn't need to be signs on every surface warning of "confrontational customers" if the staff had a degree of tact, or any idea how to deal with customers who are understandably upset. Stop blaming customers for your failures.
Seriously, go to Boots. You'll have to queue, but at least they're professional.

Having worked in a pharmacy myself, I try to give pharmacy staff a break. But when I went in on Wednesday afternoon I was met with such disregard and unhelpful staff that I left the store shaking in anger. I had to come to Barnstaple unexpectedly for an emergency and was unable to pick up a prescription from my normal pharmacy 200 miles away. I spoke to my pharmacy and asked them to release the electronic prescription and confirmed that I would be able to pick it up from somewhere nearby instead using only a name, date of birth and address.
I then went to this pharmacy and asked for the prescription from a member of staff who didn’t seem to want to be there anyway, and despite giving them the details I’d been told I needed by my pharmacy, was told they needed the barcode of the prescription or my nhs number - neither of which I knew. I assured them that these details were not needed if they just used what I had already given them, so she went off and spoke to someone and I could hear them talking for several minutes, as if I wasn’t there, about how it wasn’t possible, before coming back to me.
I finally got annoyed and stormed out of the store telling them to just forget it and I instead went to Tesco pharmacy - who, lo and behold, we’re able to get the prescription using just the name, dob and address.
If this second pharmacy had told me the same thing, that it wasn’t possible to get a prescription without the barcode or NHS number, then I would happily have returned to bear street to apologise for being snappy, but the Tesco staff didn’t have any problems so it confirmed my suspicion that this pharmacy simply didn’t want to help.
Something I have also found out since this event, is that you can use an NHS online form to have your NHS number sent to you via email or text. If the pharmacy staff had just told me that, it would still have made my experience so much simpler and less stressful.
I definitely won’t be returning to this pharmacy in future.
Nice enough pharmacy but my wife accidentally went into the brew your own shop next door and gave them most of her medical history before they could stop her.
I wouldn’t mind so much but she’s actually a GP and I would expect her to be able to distinguish between a pharmacy and a home brew shop.
Been using this pharmacy for years. The ladies are always helpful and very pleasant.
