Just thought I would head out for a dine with my friends, little did I know what was prepared to fulfill my hunger. Barry's Fish & Chips is more than just a local gem; it's a slice of community history. From the perfectly warmed burgers to the flaky fish that melts in your mouth, every bite tells a story of Barry's dedication and passion. The staff were a delight and charming as ever. So as Barry hangs up his apron, his legacy of delicious, heartwarming meals will be dearly missed. Thank you, Barry, for filling our bellies and hearts with joy over the years. Wishing you a retirement as golden as your fries!
Me and my family of 6 have been coming here for years and wow, i’ve never been let down. The professionalism shown by Barry’s staff, especially recently with the 2 newest transfers has made me feel like I was back in the Navy, surfing across the ocean blue. Barry and his wife are two angels who have so much overflowing love, they have to share it with their food and community. When I told my youngest recently after she came home from school of the news, she started breaking down and I almost felt like doing the same. Barry, you outdo yourself every time I step into your fortress of a shop. The culinary champion of Ipswich.
The good. It was edible. The chips were decent, but not amazing.
The bad. Called ahead and was told 5 mins. Got there and it wasn't even on. Proceeded to wait a further 10 minutes. Luckily it wasn't busy otherwise it would have been longer.
Fish batter was under cooked.
Curry sauce was bland and congealed. Better off with bisto curry sauce. Microwaved on arrival.
Large cod and large chips were both undersized compared to others and no cheaper.
Went here with a couple of friends after a glowing recommendation and all I can say is Barry, you are the Lionel Messi of fish and chips. What can this man not do? Cod cooked so perfectly I could not believe my tounge! Battered sausage I ate almost in one go, enough chips to last a lifetime and I'm sad they don't! Staff knew everyone's names so you could tell this is a staple of Ipswich and now he is retiring the town will never feel the same. Live long and prosper Baz!
Although the website stated that you were open, again we have turned up to find you closed. Most disappointing!
Always good fish and chips cooked to order ????
Constantly good food/service. I come accross town to visit. F&C being a rare treat. Gotta be good!
