Barbara castle way health centre has lots of services. You have to go get all your blood tests done there. Its a very nice place & the nurses & staff are very nice. There is a long waiting time & that is to be expected. Snack machines & coffee machines available while you wait. The waiting rooms are comfortable & there are lots of leaflets for information too. Also a tv to watch while you wait for your appointment
Everytime I can't get in to see a doctor..I ring once a year at most and same old story. I ring bang on 8.30am and I'm always 30 plus in cue, how? Then you wait 34/40mins on phone knowing you won't been seen but you need seeing. Then they answer no appointments available. So basically if you work you got no chance and even if you don't work you don't have much chance. I've been with this practice since I was 10 and I'm nearly 40 now and I've had enough. I'm having to move doctors. Receptionist are unhelpful, it's your job to answer phone and give advise but it's like you got them out of bed.
My daughter and myself both use the dental surgery within Barbara castle way health centre. My daughter has developmental delay and I am extremely anxious about visiting dentists. Every visit so far for either of us has been a pleasure. The dentists are extremely patient and calming.
I am giving this review only for one reason. I went with my husband who had chest pain and bump which was very concerning and stressful. We had an appointment at 3:00 clock and we were on time even a couple minutes early. There was no one in family practice reception so we just went and sat assuming that we will be called in. After 15 minutes the receptionist (A young girl with Hijab on) came and we told her that we have an appointment she said you are LATE. While she wasn’t in reception herself. She said you’ll have to wait until everyone else is done then the doctor will see you we ended up waiting till 5:30 for the doctor to see my husband who had chest pain due to this lying little unprofessional receptionist who should be fired in my opinion. We went to the length saying that check the cameras and you’ll see that we were on time and you weren’t in reception. The chest pain could be a life threatening situation and if anything happened to my husband I would’ve dragged this little C to the courts.
Staff require better training over the phone. It's happened around 3 times now and it's actually just irritating atp, if a patient is inquiring about something don't respond with a disgusting tone as if I should already know an answer to it. Furthermore, if i'm asking you about a certain update on a test of mine and you dont know about it, you shouldn't just hang up on me - guide me to how i can do it. God forbid, they're even worse in real life with their stinking looks. Yuck.
On another note, doctors/nurses i've come across are really excellent. Except the ones that take your blood because I swear these nurses try their hardest to make it an unpleasant experience.
Treatment room have been brilliant with me i have a insect bite which they have been great with but i went last week for my dressing to be changed and the women said to me what do u want me to do put another plaster on it so she clearly hadn't looked at my notes and since she has changed it it has started bleeding and i dont want to remove the dressing because she has made it infected not a very nice women she shouldn't be working for the NHS she chose the job so get on with it
Lesley and Rachel who work in Dermatology and Biopsy are honestly the most NHS worthy staff I’ve ever met. Genuinely kind and nurturing. If anyone is ever sick, I pray you meet these two lovely souls.
I have accompanied my mother to various health appointments i.e vaccinations, phlebotomy and Dermatologic. Met with helpful staff, ancillary, administration and clinicians. In times of great demands on the NHS, this health centre met all the needs of my mother. Thank you
