Terrific bakery/ coffee shop situated inside St Enoch shopping centre on the 1st.floor. Good for any time of day. Breakfast yields a great choice of morning rolls with various fillings. Lunch and later theres a great selection of pies, hot pastries and sandwiches. There is indoor and shopping centre terrace seating. Service can be slow when busy but its worth the wait. Tea, coffee and bakery sweet things are delicious.visited today 15/9/23 for quick stop tea and Apple Flake sticky bun... delicious as usual.
16/11/23. I like this place cos i am old school and this place still has that feel of an old style tearoom. Glasgow is awash with trendy coffee shops. Thank god for some traditionalism.
AVOID at all costs. Or at least at your own peril. I will start by saying the food is pretty fine. My pie happened to be far too greasy but honestly, despite that I really enjoyed it.
The question of why you should avoid? There is no mention of a cost anywhere for sitting in. You order food and then right there your bill is increased by a random amount. I read the comments on here after. It doesn't feel consistent. I think it had to be about £1.50 on my bill for sitting in. A charge that they never mentioned and a charge that isn't advertised. It was only after we ate that it actually sunk in.
This is my 3rd visit. No matter how many times I go, my first choice and second choice of food are never available. Order with a second choice in mind.
Lastly. I was with my partner and I ordered first. My partner was next but they skipped her in favour of a regular customer behind her. Pretty terrible and pointless queueing in that case. Bearing in mind her toasties takes up to 5 minutes to make.
Cleanliness was 4 / 5. Pretty clean but could be slightly improved.
Anyhow. The food is good. It actually is and has won awards. Just be warned about endless grease on pies. The customer service is mixed and hidden costs await you
Greggs thrives because this joint is so bad . Overpriced ,poorly filled rolls, weak coffee . Add a sourfaced staff ( probably underpaid and overworked) . The location is pretty good on a sunny day but, that's about it. Who cant make a decent scrambled egg roll? AULDS
Sitting in aulds right now, feel like phoning police to say I've been robbed!! No prices or menus to be seen. Place is freezing, I even noticed the assistant shivering. Ham sandwich was cheap ham on cheap bread only buttered on one side. For sandwich, crisps and a cup of tea £8.28. I wouldn't mind paying that if food of reasonable quality but it was just cheap and nasty.
Friendly staff and a warm glow about the place. As we walked by we knew it would be hard to resist. Evoking memories of yesteryear. The wonderful cakes and treats that have passed through our hands and into our bellies immediately permeating through our minds, bodies and souls.
My friend was adamant we must go, we must try the fudge doughnuts. To his dismay and visible distress there were none. After being consoled he went for the twisty doughnut thing and I plumped for the apple square.
The latter was a joyous delight on this Saturday afternoon. My friend, we will call him Q, was not quite so happy. Q although enjoying his selection could not quite get over missing out on his fudge doughnut. I hope one day Q will have his dream finally realised. Q seemed a tad empty for the rest of the afternoon but where there is fudge there is a way!
Overall recommended if in the area.
Food was good, price between sit in and take away needs looking at, difference for a yumyum £1.20 extra to sit in , just under double the price, that's just too much.
When I asked why the difference, I Wass told " I don't make the prices".
We get a delivery of scotch pies they are delivered quickly and we are updated on delivery. Brilliant as always
They are scammers, they provide a wrong address and steal your money
