Best KPortal Reviews
The food was very authentic, high quality, and very good. The dumplings are easily some of the best i have had anywhere. The decor and ambience is beautiful and very quiet. Not usually too busy. The dining room was very clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Some of the food was a little too spicy for my taste but that is pretty true to form for a lot of Korean dishes. Portion size for the price is very good.
What an amazing food experience! Plenty of authentic Korean foods to choose from. The dumplings were some if the best I've had and the soup was fantastic! The waitress was also incredible- striking up conversation with every table and making sure everyone liked what they ordered. Definitely coming back!
Great food, but just like everyone says, it does take quite awhile for the food to come out.
Really delicious Korean food and the flavors were bursting and memorable. Would definitely come back for the food, however, if you are hungry, the wait might be unpleasant because it does take awhile. I do get it though since I do believe it is a small mom and pop restaurant and it is just them making and serving everyone. Either way great food, maybe stick with take out if you don’t want the wait ????????
Overall we were impressed with this place. We would definitely recommend the Japchae to everyone as that was very very good. The traditional Korean side dishes that came with everything also were all very good. The Yukgaejang was also good and is worth a try if you are looking for a soup.
We also tried the Mool Mandu and DukBokki. We weren't very impressed with either of these and would pass on them in the future.
Decided to go here after finding them on Google maps. You won't be disappointed. I would highly recommend getting your dish in the sizzling hot bowl. The little appetizers they bring out are amazing and I don't even like spicy food. The chilled broccoli was my favorite. My family ordered the dumplings and they were steaming and flavorful! They can't serve liquor anymore but our server kept our waters full. Highly recommend!
I am not sure where to begin other than the fact that this hole in the wall is absolutely incredible. The staff are so kind and so welcoming and the food is absolutely delicious I’ve gone to this location several times and they never let me down even when I order I think that it’s an undiscovered treasure in St. Louis and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants authentic Korean cuisine. Order from them and I promise this won’t let you down.
Super delicious also their meats pork and beef are always cooked to perfection.
It has actually been a while since I gave a restaurant such a low rating! And I can tell you that for the most part, I did not have a terrible experience here. However, my three-star rating is pertaining to some of the displeasure I did experience while there. I'll start with the interior of the establishment.
Overall, the interior of the restaurant was fairly clean. I think that that particular restaurant has been there for many years. Hence the appearance of a great deal of wear and tear and shoddy-looking furniture. The floors were not dirty in appearance, nor did I see food or crumbs or any kind of debris.
Yet, what you'll see in my photos is that the men's restroom was kind of bad! It wasn't bad because I saw body fluids and other matter anywhere. That was not really the issue. The issue was that the men's restroom was so cluttered with "junk" and random stuff, making it look messy and unsightly. I realize that such a restaurant is not a five-star experience, nor is it meant to be that. But, nonetheless, I would still expect and hope that the owners of this place might take their presentation more seriously.
Additionally, the young lady who was our server was not very friendly or welcoming. She seemed to come to our table, for a split-second, to see what we needed or wanted. Then she promptly "ran away," almost as fast as she got there! Why would this be the case? I can't really tell you. I can tell you that she was wearing a mask, and that perhaps she was a bit unnerved to be working at all, given these days in the endemic. But, if this is the case, that she was nervous or uncomfortable in the restaurant, why would she be working??? She certainly didn't have anything to worry about where I'm concerned, because I'm fully vaxxed and boosted.
Finally, the food was not bad! The bulgogi-type dish I shared with a friend of mine was tasty! My only gripe about the dish was that I believe we had a beef rendition of the bulgogi, and some of the slices were a bit tough and rubbery. That's simply because those would have been the cheaper parts of the beef! I was disheartened by those moments. I literally was chewing those bits and spitting them out in a napkin and rolling it up. I realize some people like chewing on fat; I am not one of them. The only time fat is edible, in my book, is when it's fried and crispy.
In closing, I understand that this review might seem a bit mixed. If it does, that's because my experience was mixed. This is one of the few times I will say that I'm confident I probably won't eat at this restaurant again. I generally don't say such things. You can comb through my series of restaurant reviews and/or hotel stays, and you'll see that I rarely cite that I won't return to an establishment. In this case, I'm pretty confident I won't go back.
Do you think they care? Neh...They've been there for however many years they have been there, and I don't see them changing anytime soon. So, go there and form your own opinion!
I forgot to take pictures because the food disappeared as fast as it came out from the kitchen, the service is absolutely great the lady who took our order was so very nice, my son and I were looking for korean cuisine, and boy did we find it the food was spectacularly scrumptious as my son could attest, the restaurant is small and easy to get to. Boy o boy the soups are great and the seafood bowl is freakin amazing well on the count I love authentic and real seafood the food is just amazing. I wanna thank the restaurant and its lovely staff for a great dinner. The pricing is very good nothing over 25 bucks cmon down and try them out for yourself cause I sure am.
