We have been traveling to Calexico for many years now. Upon our most recent visit, we wanted to try someplace new. I looked up restaurants near me, and this place popped up. Not gonna lie. Parking sucks to eat here, so be ready to find somewhere nearby to park with traffic. The outside doesn't look too appealing, but once inside, you're in a whole new cool vibe, nice decoration, and ambiance. It was a Tuesday afternoon, and the place wasn't busy at all. Which I thought we would get served promptly. This was not the case. The waiter took a while to get our drink order, and then after the drink, he took another 20 or so minutes to take our order. At this point, we still didn't get our drinks. After a half hour of waiting, I got up to ask where the drinks and appetizers were? He replied that everything was coming out. After about 45 minutes our food came, as you can see I ordered simple tacos, which I must say that the food was delicious. Not gonna say it was worth the wait but all the dishes ordered were very good, if they would have been more attentive or have a bit faster service this place would have rated high on my must visit places. Good luck if you try this place. Again, food is good if you're willing to wait.
Absolutely disgusting. Ordered pastor burrito and carne asada tacos. The taco meat looked like white like chicken breast marinated in achiote sauce and had a sour funky taste. I could not get through the rest of my food. Same thing happened to my friend who ordered pastor. She only took a few bites it tasted weird.
We both ended in the bathroom with everything coming out both ends.
Unfortunately no one spoke English. Food looks great, but not so much flavor. Not sure about the kids meals. Chicken nuggets looked a little off. The asada tacos were good with guacamole. Asada burrito was huge. Tripa burrito was small. I guess it depends what you get.
honestly i don't know why i bother with restaurants in Calexico, they're all stuck in the 90's. Trying to order through an app to save time just to get to the restaurant and realizing the order was never received, and a big ordeal trying to locate the order, calling the boss etc.
Update, Due to pandemic I had not been there for a while. I ordered over $50 and was told 20 min wait. I got there right at 20 mins. Paid for my order. New customer shows up, orders at the counter and 5 mins later he was given his to go order. 20 mins after new customer left. I finally got my food. And a very short... Sorry we took so long. Downgraded to 4 stars. ***Took the family to try out Asadero Neighborhood. The Carne Asada burrito was huge. All the ingredients were very delicious, making for an awesome burrito. The waiter was nice and attentive, but he seemed to be the only front line staff. Taking orders and handling the cash register. If you are in a hurry that might be an issue. We had plenty of time so we just took the time to talk and enjoy our visit.
Food was great tasting and service was good. No Margaritas and the only beer they had was Ultras. We sat outside because we had out our dog with us. It was empty inside.
My food was given to me stale. If they didn’t have fresh food they could have just said so.
The Carne Asada burrito is BIG(over two inches thick) mainly because of the big tortilla but they do put a good amount of carne asada and beans and guac! I would say it can feed two people or one person that's really really hungry.
