Best KPortal Reviews

Google maps said it has been 7 years since I last ate here, decided to give it another try. So much regret.
My party of 3 was promptly seated, provided water, and took out order (just 3 Kotteri ramens). We waited over half an hour to get our food. And it was NOT worth the wait. It was overly salty, barely edible. The flavor reminds me of Ichiran home cook packs which now I suspect that's what they use.
The restaurant is connected to a "bar" next door, and the entire time there were cigar smells (more prominent when people are entering/leaving the bar through a door). This was very off-putting when trying to eat ramen.
Writing this review to remind myself to NEVER return in another 7 years or however long it will be...
Shio ramen was amazing.
I came to Asa Ramen after a particularly hard day needing comfort, which their ramen and service provided.
They also have beer: Sapporo and Asahi.
Basic ramen starts from $9.
Thank you! Will be back!
Beside having great ramen, I think the one thing I like is the fact that they are open really late. I do watch late night movies at AMC Del Amo and getting a late dinner wouldn't be harder without restaurants that open late, so +1 to that! ???? The place look old, but don't worry, It is clean.
On to the food:
I thought the ramen texture was pretty great! Not too soft, a little on the hard side. Therefore, if you like your ramen a little softer, you could perhaps let the waiter (there was only one guy serving everyone) know ahead of time.
Salt ramen:
Not too salty. It tasted like your typical (the great ones) salt ramen. However you don't feel heavy afterwards because it is not too oily. The meat given was kinda sad though. I thought there were very little meat in the ramen. Egg was great! But if you are looking forward to runny egg???? yolk then I am afraid you are out of luck.
Curry ramen:
This was great too! Smells really good and it definitely satisfies your curry craving!
Kaarage:
This was alright. Nothing extraordinary. They were kind of thick on the flour. You can give it a try nonetheless if you want some appetizers.
Fried oyster:
My girlfriend enjoyed them thoroughly! I didn't touch this because I am afraid of oysters ????!
Overall, it was pretty great experience. I will definitely be back again! ????
The food was great. I got a Curry Ramen which is a soy sauce based soup and it wasn't too salty. Just perfect. The food portion as ginormous. The server was very nice and attentive. The have outside seating.
I think the food was alright but I wouldn't go back. The guy serving us was so nice but my biggest take away is that they have roaches, german roaches. Saw one crawling on the wall and felt so uncomfortable. I should have figured as this restaurant has a C rating. Please ignore the picture with the A rating. It's not recent. If you dont care about roaches, then you might like this place. If it wasn't for that, I might go back..

Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles:
One ramen spot just north of the 405 on Western that serves sublime bowls is Asa Ramen, a place that intricately makes you feel like you have stepped back in time at least a couple decades. Even the cigarette smells wafting in from the connected karaoke/hostess cafe next door make it seem a long time ago. But what is better than five or ten years ago, at least from the customer's point of view, is that the weekend waiting lists are hardly a thing and the influencers (the new hipsters) have moved on.
Quite possibly the best ramen + side dishes I’ve had in the South Bay, especially greater LA, and for an unbeatable price. Staff is professional and courteous! Don’t even consider anything else nearby. This place is all you need.
Got off the plane late at LAX in the rain and this was the perfect bowl of ramen still open. I had the spicy special and my girlfriend had the curry. Both were very good and much better than most ramen we can get in Colorado. Prices were outstanding and I would definitely go back again. Staff was very quick but they had stopped cooking the octopus for the night. Thanks for a great meal.
