I have been going to Appalachian Tire for years. I do not live in Lenoir but visited there frequently to help take care of my elderly and now deceased parents. Over the years I've had car problems like most people have, check engine lights, low tire pressure, and so on. I almost never made an appointment because I didn't know I would have a problem until it happened and I was on the road. Yesterday was no exception. There was a loud metal clanging sound coming from under the hood. I needed to get home, but was afraid to drive without having it looked at. They were busy but they worked me in, fixed the problem and charged me next to nothing. They had no selfish reason to do so, as my parents' house just sold and I probably won't be even visiting there. Thank you Appalachian Tire for going above and beyond over all these years. Every employee I've encountered is polite, prompt, knowledgeable and the prices are fair. One added bonus is that there isn't a TV blaring obnoxious "news". National Geographic and Andy Griffith are great choices. I wish every place of business showed this kind of respect to their customers!
I have reviewed them in the past as NeoAndTrinityNick and gave 5 stars. As I said then he is not always home. They have always been good to me. They have always had fair and knowledgeable mechanics. Today was a bad day for them, but because of Alex I will still give them 4 stars. I had a window that would not go up on an old vehicle that they have been the only ones to work on for 8 years now. I asked one thing. Do not unhook the door locks because I can not get into the back. They unhooked everything and jammed a rag and piece of wood down in the window. I was upset and called, but Alex was kind and said just bring it back. As I explained to the lady in the front she jerked the keys out of my hand, because of my complaints. I’m a customer and I was unhappy with the service. They fixed it no charge, and even removed the jammed piece of wood from the window. I will give 4 stars even now because of the one Hispanic mechanic and Alex. That woman does not have a clue how she made me feel. Had this been 15 years ago I would have jumped across that counter. Furthermore, she made me cuss, which led me to crying, because I am not the person I use to be. I don’t trust anywhere else, but it may be time I find another mechanic.
A truly kind and honest staff. They worked with me and were able to help me with my car issue. Will definitely be a regular. Thank you Appalachian Tire and Auto!
Great auto service. Much more than just tires. This business can rotate your tires and change oil. Some other oil change business cannot offer that service
Wasted my time, raised their price from original quote to do the job. and the tire sensors they priced were nearly as expensive as Ford. Would not recommend.
Beware! A nightmare!! SCAMMER! I wish I had read all the negative reviews. I would have had it towed to my repairshop.! My car had overheated in front of the business. I explained it to the cashier and asked if they could look at my car. I was shown an estimate that it could be up to $300 labor and was told that it took 3 hours to replace and $200 for parts. They used my coolant but still charged me for coolant. It was 2 hours before closing, so I figured it would be $200 for labor if it took until 5 pm. to replace thermostat housing. My daughter n law took a picture of the estimate that he quickly took back and threw in the trash. I never signed it because I didn't know how long it would take in labor. I waited there since they were closing in a couple of hours. It only took one hour for repairs. When I was given the bill, I was charged the full three hours of labor. I bought it to their attention, and the manager/owner came into the lobby screaming at me. He said that is the price... $300 per hour for labor, and that I have to pay it. I tried to reason with him, and he got louder. There were four other people in the lobby as he stood there screaming at a 67 year old woman. I paid the $571 bill that he charged me and left in tears. There is no other repair shop that charges $300 per hour for labor. I have the picture that my daughter n law took of the estimate that I didn't sign, and I didn't agree to pay $300 labor. I will be filing small claims against him for overcharging me and intimidating me into paying his price. He is a bully! Shame on him!
Alex has always been so respectful and helpful. It’s nice seeing the same mechanics over a significant period of time. They all genuinely care and just want to make you aware of what’s to come and what’s happening with your vehicle. I appreciate the way they do business. Good people!
Charged for three hours of labor that only took an hour but....???? The manager could have handled it differently he was very rude...I've been in management for ten years and was very appalled at his demeanor.
