This place is known for their gorditas and menudo, which are fire. I wanted to try something new and ordered chilaquiles. I genuinely don’t recommend them. They were soggy and too spicy. I also ordered them to go and they forgot to put sour cream, cheese, and onion.
Very authentic Sopes, Tacos, and outrageously flavorful salsas for everything!
My server was apologizing for the wait, they were PACKED when I got there. I had to reassure her several times that I'm as easy as Sunday afternoon (it was a Sunday afternoon). ????
The only "disappointment" is the tinga (chicken) was very 'wet' and it went through the tortillas making them mushy corn... But the flavor, and portion size more than made up for that.
Absolutely delicious! I work in Waukegan and end up driving by this location about once or twice a month, so I've been meaning to try it out for a while. I should not have waited so long! Friendly service, well lit, and simply amazing food. I will be making this a regular stop.
(Picture is of the cute plant with braids that was over my table.)
The food was OK. Service was a bit slow to what I'm used to. I asked for some limes for my tacos and waited several minutes for them. I also wanted a Coke and when asked whether I wanted can or bottle, I said bottle. The waitress still gave me a can.
Good food, fair prices, served quickly by pleasant waitress. Nice colorful environment, interesting specialties.
The Tacos are good, weekends they serve pozole. They got guacamole if you just want to order that, i would give a five star but the young waitresses dont have customer service has priority, they act as if they were over my league.
If you’re not familiar with this hidden gem, you’re missing out! They have it all! The flavors, the variety, the home style cooking and the service with a smile! They also do catering! And let me tell ya, they’re amazing to work with! Super professional and on top of everything! They recently catered my parents 50th wedding anniversary of about 200 guests and it was an absolute success! Everyone loved the food and service! I highly recommend Antojitos Tonatico!
I walked in and order some menudo to go and I waited for my order while the person at counter was just having a conversation with a someone. After 10 min he was done and he finally got my order. Very disappointing experience.
