It's my first time eating at Anthony’s Homeport in Des Moines, WA. The outside view is pretty nice, and the inside is in the process of remodeling. I believe only downstairs is getting a makeover.
I went there with my older sister and wife. We walked upstairs, and there were 4-5 employees at the front desk. They must be just starting the shift and getting training from the manager. No one greeted us, but we greeted them and asked if we could get a seat for the “Happy Hour.” The manager looked at us and told us to sit in the bar section. We thanked him and proceeded.
We found a table by the glass wall overlooking the marina. After sitting down, a server dropped off the menu, and we got three glasses of water about 10 minutes later. After about another 15 minutes, our server came by and took the order for the drinks. My sister and wife wanted something sweet, and when the drink arrived, they tasted it, and it was bitter. The server was unhappy, but he was nice enough to make new drinks for the two ladies.
Based on my observation, the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. Between the water, the drink, and our meals it takes a long time. No one checked on us, and no one came by to refill the water.
Here are the Issues:
*Mixed drinks ordered sweet but came out bitter. I listened, observed, and tasted it myself.
*The ahi appetizer portion came much smaller than the lady who sat next to us.
*Water glass is dark blue. The waiters cannot tell if there is water in there or not. No refill for us.
*No one came by to check on us. Our server was overly busy.
*Scanning the ticket to get out of the parking lot was a bit of a hassle.
If it’s not a Holiday or during Happy Hour, it would have been better, I think.
Servers were remarkable! Above and beyond politeness and customer service. We extremely enjoyed the atmosphere here and the view. They can accommodate private events! I've eaten better eggs benedicts, there's a missing wow factor to it. Warm Kahlua drink is very good. Their potatoes is my favorite! - a perfect kick to it. Salmon could be more tender. I would definitely come back for the view and try other items.
Today is my birthday! We are here to celebrate So beautiful space ! They gave me a birthday card and free cake ! Make me so special! The food very delicious ! We will be back soon
Food was fabulous. Our waitress, Megan was polite and attentive. The all you can eat crab was juicy and worth the fight to eat. ???? My petite top sirloin was cooked to perfection and well plated. I couldn't wait to dig into dessert so I didn't get a picture but the melting chocolate cake was fluffy and decadent.
The classic harbor/marina restaurant to watch the sunset and have some solid seafood. You can’t beat it. The view was absolutely incredible. I also love that they had 3 for $33 deal. Out server was absolutely top notch.
Simply the Best spot in Des Moines on the water surroubded by boats & a beautiful view. However, best part is Mark on the Bar Upstairs with the Terrace. For my money - he has to be the No1 Best Bartender in Seattle! Professional, fast, remembers your drink after first visit, multi-tasking so never a wait & a beautiful manner ! To witness an ‘Artist at Work’ he’s on Mondays Wednesdays & Thursdays ! Sit at the Bar for best service. ????????????
Why would people be drawn to dine at this off-the-main-road restaurant? That was the tourist in me thinking while waiting to be seated. My skepticism vanished when I basked in the view of the marina at sunset and indulged in their juicy steak and prawns. A bit pricey but I’ll definitely visit again.
Always great food, staff, and views. We just stopped in for a quick dinner. They have amazing seafood but today I wanted a steak. I got the Petite Sirloin. I wanted dessert. My wife got the Halibut fish and Chips. It was really good. My steak was just the way I wanted it. We also had some broccolini and coleslaw. The coleslaw had some ginger in it. If you don't like ginger then don't have the slaw. It was really good though. We had some ice cream at the end. Bordeaux Cherry Chicolate Chip.
