I loved the convenience of getting to take the train for a day trip - my only complaint is access. The parking lot was incredibly full, and unfortunately (and ironically?), the station isn't well connected to transit. I'll be so glad when the station in Uptown is finally built!
Catching up on reviews. I rode from Raleigh to this Charlotte station 3 weeks ago, but this review is for a ride I took leaving Charlotte in route to Atlanta on Saturday, 05-21-22.
That wasn't my first time at the station, but it's the first time I actually paid attention to what was in the display case. I loved all the information about the Buffalo Soldiers! I'd never heard of NC Train Hosts. In light of the pandemic, I'm wondering if the opportunity is still available; planning to look into it. I didn't really have to interact with staff to much. I went to the counter to ask a question about my bag. They were pleasant and answered my question. The staff member checking tickets was nice.
Recently rode the train for a quick getaway from CLT to DNC. Had an amazing and relaxing 2 hour and 30 minute ride. I have always loved taking the train!! Also, I was able to leave my car at the station while I was away. I loved that a parking pass was included in the price of the train ticket. The price of my ticket was $25 and I thought that was a great deal.
Rated 4/5 starts being that the CLT Station bathroom, I used, was not properly stocked with toilet tissue.
It is embarrassing that the largest city in the Carolinas has the most dated and worst Amtrak station. It's functional, but the small waiting room, weird location, dark tunnel and only one bus connection are blights on an otherwise enjoyable and convenient train experience. The state spent $86 million on tracks for a new station that does not exist. It's a waste of taxpayer money until the city does something
Charlotte’s station is the only station in the south that is in a terrible/ unsafe area and in a must need uplift/ upgrade/ remodel
Love Amtrak service to Raleigh but Charlotte needs help
Love this station! Everyone is always so friendly and it’s clean!
It is very important to understand this Amtrak station works like an airport and doesn't have open tracks. There is a door (gate) that they close 5 minutes before the train leaves, even if the train is there. Due to my lack of knowledge, I recently missed my train along with about 10 other people and an unfortunate guy who went to the bathroom before boarding. The gate agents wouldn't open the door but they did allow you to switch for no fee. The station is clean and has a good amount of seating.
Is station open 24 hours? My train comes from NY and leaves Charlotte at 2:45AM.
