Best KPortal Reviews

Nice ambience, great flavors, value for money! Fast service and no delays in serving food. This place will definitely get your south Indian breakfast cravings satisfied. Yesterday for dinner we ordered Kaara Idly, Mysore Bonda, Poori and Ravva Onion Dosa, it is yummy ????.
Amma's kitchen is a small south Indian joint and I visited it a week before Diwali. It is a budget-friendly restaurant for a taste of south Indian cuisine
Here is the summary of my review:
Ambiance: 2/5: Nothing genuinely extravagant. Looks like a regular lunch place in the busy streets of India. Small area with mostly tables and not in the name of decor or ambiance.
Service 2.5/5: It took them over 20 minutes to get us two samosas (which I assume would have been cooked before) and a mickey mouse uttapam
Food Quality and size: 3/5: The taste was good. The samosas were small and spicy and the uttapam did not have enough side dips
Value for Money: 4.5/5: This is only area in which it does good since this place is cheap so if you want south indian food which does not create a hole in your pocket, you must visit Amma's kitchen.
Overall, the taste and service could have been better. I will try their dosas and update the review
Food- South Indian dishes were tasty only salt was less. North Indian dishes like chaat are not that tasty. Over all food is good.
Service- Food was ready quickly and that is what we want especially when we are hungry :D
Atmosphere- Ambience is simple and neat.
Cost- Very reasonable compare to other places.
I was visiting Atlanta and came here with my sister's family. Food is decent and prices for most items are less than $10. Poori with alu curry was my favorite and my nieces loved onion samosa and Mirchi bajji
In my opinion, one of the best South Indian veg restaurant that I visited in Alpharetta is Amma's kitchen. Reminded me of home.
They have reasonable pricing, home style food, excellent taste without compromise on quality. Was full but didn't feel heavy at all post dinner.
Must try: Vada, Mysore masala dosa, Idli
A place for authentic home made style South Indian food. Have been here more than 3 times and every single time I had no regrets having food here. The food here is amazing with great quantity and at a very reasonable price compared to Aunty's Kitchen near by which is deteriorating day by day. A great and fitting competitor considering the level and speed of service offered.
The first time I tried Paneer Dosa and as the name says it's just Dosa with shredded Paneer filling in place of Masala. The dosa was too good and moist unlike the dry Dosas we get at other places. The paneer was just shredded and added and literally no spice/ salt nothing. Had a plate of samosas as well. Wasn't that great but the chutneys were good.
The next time I went for lunch on a Saturday, it was too crowded and hard to find a place. We got a Thali and it was just Wow to me! Was craving for Thali for quite some days and found this pure home style Veg Thali which included Pappu, Sambar, Gulab jamun, curd, pickle and 2 curries. There's a great demand for the thali here for its reasonable price and quality.
The next time had Onion Dosa and they ran out of Sambar which I loved the most. I'm glad they atleast clarify the wait times and non availability of food up front than making us wait for hours like Auntys kitchen who gives a standard 40minute wait time to everyone. Had Badam milk along side this and it tasted great and subtle as well. No extra sugar or any colors as I could see. Just mashed Badam and milk and the food stays so grounded.
The quality is all the more excellent which makes me revisit frequently. The ambience is simple and nothing special. The tables are kept clean more often than being piled up like Auntys kitchen and the plates are taken away as soon as we are done thus making way for other customers to occupy in no time. Weekends are a lot busy especially during lunch times so be prepared for a wait time of atleast 20-30 minutes to get a table for 2 or 4.
BOTTOMLINE: A great place for home made style authentic Andhra-TN (South Indian) food that's delicious, priced reasonable, filling and doesn't bother your tummy. Crowded on weekends as it's close to the temple.
MUST TRY: Veg Thali, Dosa varieties, Badam milk
2024 update: Ugadi special Thali.Located next to Hanuman mandir and Vivek flowers, this outlet is in an ideal location to attract Desi crowds. Open hours are limited, so check before you plan to visit. Though normal temple visit hours in evening you may find the outlet open. They are also on Doordash and Uber Eats.
Update on dine in: order, pay. Then they will call your table # and dish, collect and enjoy.
Menu choices are typical South Indian items. Over the counter, they have Indian Sweets and savories. I went for a takeout, so this review is about the same.
I ordered Mysore masala Disa (size is good, not so spicy, their sambar needs some improvements and few potatoes were big in filling) and masala dosa (similar to above, chutney was tasting better).
Enjoy light veg food after your Darshan.
The best place to get Indian vegetarian food at a fraction of the cost. And even though the cost is significantly lower than other Indian restaurants the quality is pretty good. The quantity too is quite generous. There is a Hindu Temple nearby which makes it ideal for stopping by after prayers. Well maintained small restaurant.
