Best KPortal Reviews
This place truly rocks when it comes to Down South Soul Food Cooking. The corn beef was tender and juicy. The mac and cheese and greens remind you of grandma. And the dressing. The perfect spot for true home cooking. The service is friendly and helpful. Which I truly appreciate. A must try for any soul food lover. I highly recommend.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Evan, the owner (or manager) at Al's Soul Food. He was incredibly accommodating and generous, inviting us to sample a variety of foods. Every dish we tried was so delicious that I ended up buying much more than I had planned. The quality and flavor of the food are exceptional, and the friendly staff made the experience even better. I'll definitely be coming back again and highly recommend Al's Soul Food to others.
Food overpriced in my opinion
Also meatloaf meal was undercooked raw inside
For a meal to cost $14.99 the yams a bit too sweet and the spaghetti not good overall service
Maybe I’ll try something else from the menu next time.
Excellent! The greens were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The yams were amazing! I even enjoyed the green beans! The fried whole chicken wings were delicious. I also had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and 7up cake, all delightful. I was sad the Mac and cheese was sold out and I will definitely be ordering again looking forward to trying the Mac!
First Time Customer
I Ordered The Two Piece Pork Chop Dinner W/ Yams and Dressing.
* Pork Chops Were To Salty and Dark
Grease Need To Be Changed ASAP!
* The Yams Were Yams..They Were Just That. Yams! A Little Sugar, No Nutmeg No Cinnamon , No Butter, Nothing!
*The Dressing. Baby This Dressing Was Just Cornbread! No Onions Bell Pepper Celery Meat Seasoning, NOTHING!!!!! Just Moist Cornbread???? This Meal Didn't Touch My Soul At All!
****** Also I Purchased My Food About 5:45pm. They Had SO MUCH COOKED FOOD Stacked In Aluminum Covered Pans On The Back Counter and Stove Area. Ain't No Way They Will Sell All of That By 8:30 pm Closing Time, Which Means This Food is Not Made Fresh EVERY DAY!
Great food! Baked pork chop was juicy, tender and yum. Mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese were great too - I'd get the Mac & cheese alone if I could next time
The staff were great too. Friendly and the place felt like home (to me anyways)
Al’s Soul Food is the truth. I ordered the wings plain & lemon pepper, catfish, greens, and Mac & cheese. The food was GREAT and I was able to order the pans in the same day. The staff is very nice and the service is awesome. If you want everyone satisfied then Al’s the spot for you. Al’s need to be a mainstream restaurant
First time visiting this soul food place ( man behind the counter looked Middle Eastern). I ordered chicken legs/thigh, which was dry and hard, the corn bread dressing was too mushy and over salted, macaroni & cheese tasted like Kraft boxed. Food looked tasty, but pricey... it's a NO for me.
The counter lady was helpful in explaining the prices of various hot food items.
