Best KPortal Reviews
I was in Columbus for a conference at the Hyatt Regency and came upon Alley Burger while walking around looking for a place to eat. I am so so glad I did! It was eclectic in nature with an R&B vibe. The staff was super nice and friendly and did a great job. If the atmosphere and the staff don’t win you over, I can say wholeheartedly that the food definitely will. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and suffice it to say it is now the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. My friend had the double burger and he too said it was amazing. In addition, we had the crab cakes and the shrimp appetizers and they too were beyond expectation. I’m not one to write many Google reviews, but I want to make sure everybody knows that Alley Burger is worth your time and attention. I would recommend this place to anybody who’s local or visiting the Columbus area. You don’t wanna miss it.
I tried Alley Burger for the first time a couple of days ago and was highly impressed! After planning to stop by for just a quick bite, I ended up staying for almost 2hrs. I met the owner, Mike, who was such a cool and friendly guy. I enjoyed everything about my visit— the delicious fish tacos and truffle fries, the amazing “Banana Split” frozen mixed drink, the awesome music playlist, and the comforting vibe inside with super dope paintings on the walls. You can tell that the owner puts pride into his business, as the service itself was wonderful. I’ll definitely be back to try their famous burgers.. thanks for a great first visit!
This is basically a hole in the wall bar with good food. If you wear more than jeans you are overdressed. There were 5 people at my table for an early dinner. There was one other table with customers and a couple of people at the bar. It took 45 minutes just for our appetizers and an additional 30 minutes for the entrees. It was about 10 minutes between each person in our groups receiving their entrees. Just trying to get our drinks was a chore. The fries and my lamb chops were very good., but when you are paying $49.95 for your main course you should get matching service. Poor service was an understatement. Then on top of that there is an 18% gratuity on groups of TWO or more. Highway robbery... This waitress did not deserve 5%. I generally tip 20% to 25% when I get good service. But to be forced to pay an 18% gratuity and getting poor service is uncalled for and I will never return.... You have been warned...
Cooks are SUPER Slow (found out only 1 cook for entire place). Over 2 hours and NO food. Rest of table received food. My people need to do better than this. The atmosphere was nice. I just need better management in the kitchen. Music was banging!!! Manager missing and not able to settle our complaint. Dessert was frozen and charged $7 for it..... Absolutely Ridiculous.. I feel so bad for the staff that has been placed in an unsuccessful situation. The place only started with my party. No other people until 8:30p..... the pictures show our table at 9:30 pm... all but 4 of us ate.
Good food but slow service during restaurant week. I really enjoyed the food. I tried the Alley Mac, Buffalo Chicken Dip, and Classic Burger. They were out of the restaurant dessert options so we subbed in Lake Alley fries which were just ok. Overall I would come back but hopefully the service issues are rectified. There were so many people that walked in and left without food due to service issues.
First time at Alley Burger, won’t be our last! We got the Cowboy burger and it was one of the best burgers I’ve had to date. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was 10/10. New fave burger place in Columbus!
Went during restaurant week so excited to go there with my family. I even made reservations anticipating the crowd and was glad the restaurant confirmed. However, I would only end up highly disappointed and frustrated. We arrived before the server(s) did, there was one light on in the restaurant and no heat on. My table and another table waited 15 minutes to not be greeted but anyone. Eventually a kitchen worker walked up and said someone will be here. Not hello, not I’m sorry, pretty much nothing. One Employee showed up and our drinks and order was taken 30 mins after our arrival. The 1st course the Fish Nibblets, I ordered (not the 3 appetizers we individually ordered) was the only one that showed up to our table an hour and 10 minutes after arrival. During that time we watched at least 25-30 customers get turned away all for different reasons. Then the next 1st course Buffalo Chicken Dip my youngest son ordered showed up 10 minutes after that. The 3rd first course the alley Mac my oldest son ordered didn’t show until the entrées (2nd course: 2 classics and one bbq bacon burger) came out. The 3rd course 2 strawberry cheesecakes and a chocolate cake for dessert came out in containers rock hard frozen. At no point was there an apology given and no manager present to make things right. The food was great but the experience will never let me go back. This restaurant has amazing potential.
I want to be able to recommend this place because the food was actually good, but I just can’t. Trust the other reviews when they talk about the service and wait time, they aren’t being dramatic. We were one of two tables in the restaurant on a Tuesday night, figured we’d be in and out and the place is super cute so let’s give it a shot. Got our drinks immediately and put in our order shortly after, then the wait began. 10, 20, 30+ minutes pass and we don’t even have our appetizer. Our water was never refilled, we were never given an apology nor was our wait even acknowledged. After nearly 45 minutes of nothing, we gave up and told them that we needed to go. Of course our food was then conveniently almost ready. After another 10 or so minutes we finally got our food and just took it to go. The table that was there before us still didn’t get their food by the time we were leaving, so clearly we only got it when we did because we said something. The potential is there but Alley Burger has a loooong way to go.
