We've been coming here for years, and they have great food, especially the Etna fries! The young man who served us was very respectful. He did make a mistake on our order, but gave us half off the sandwich. Now, this is the way to keep people coming back!
I have been coming here for around 20 years. My dad took me here growing up. Nowadays, I visit with my family.
On average, I come to the restaurant about once every 2 or 3 weeks. Their pizza, burgers and sandwiches are all phenomenal. I love their homemade chips. I NEVER have a bad meal at this place. Really reasonable alcohol prices as well. My oldest daughter always asks "when are we going back?"
We usually have Vicki as our server. She's always attentive, responsive and does everything she can for the guests. I highly recommend going here! I promise you won't be disappointed!
Quite a disappointing experience. I had read that many people enjoyed their calzones, and as a calzone lover, I went to go try them out. Pretty bug let down in most ways. I tried the medium sized cheese calzone.
The price of the calzone was okay ($13-$14 around) for a medium. However, it was smaller than I had expected. The shape was more similar to that of a Stromboli, too. Still, I thought maybe the taste would make up for the relatively small portion size.
Nope, it didn't. They did not include much cheese and the cheese they did include did not taste very good. This calzone was far too bready and did not have much flavor. No crunchiness for the exterior, no buttery brushing or sprinkling of Parmesan like some places do.
Even the side tomato sauce was not good. Now, I will saw, they did give me 2 side sauce containers, which is nice. And, they may have been tomato chunks in there as well. But, there were also large pieces of onion. And, I'm not a fan of onion, so that ruined the flavor of the sauce for me.
I hate to say this, but the area itself and the vibe in the restaurant were not good. Employees were smoking outside, and the area seemed generally run down. It's not spacious or comfortable in there, so highly recommend not eating inside.
All in all, I do not think I will be returning to Alioto's any time soon. The quality of the calzone was poor, the portion was small, and the sauce was dominated with onion flavor. The place is pretty run down and some employees smoked outside. Would not recommend.
We had the best experience last night! We had just arrived in the city frazzled after getting lost on the way to our VRBO. We stopped for dinner with 9 of us (6 of them being boys under the age of 10). They got us in promptly, got our kids set up with drinks, and adults started drinks from the bar which were much needed after our 5 hour drive haha. Our server was quick, the food was amazing and we met so many amazing people in our short time there. Everyone was super friendly and didn’t even seem to mind our rowdy crew! Thank you for a great experience, 10/10 recommend!!!
Second time I have ordered the fish sandwich. Was not disappointed. I brought a friend with me and she couldn't bey how big and good the fish was. Also been their on Thursday and the burgers are fantastic.
Have got food from here a few times never had a issue. This last pizza was horrible. It lacked cheese and was over cooked. The pieces was like a board. There was a ring in the center that was no cheese. It wasn't good.
Nice hometown bar/restaurant with specials every day of the week. The salads are outstanding and half price until 3pm on Saturdays.
Good buffalo chicken sandwich, the bread and coleslaw could have been a little better though. Nice waiter and nice atmosphere! I would come here for the pizza.
