I’m not for sure why they have a decent rating. The food is subpar. The home fries taste like they came out of a bag in the freezer section of Walmart. The eggs were undercooked. The grist bowl was placed on top of my eggs ????????♀️ The toast wasn’t toasted. The pancake was probably the best thing and even that was subpar. The service was AWFUL. The waitress was so rude. Never smiled. Had an attitude when my friend misspoke one what she was ordering. She dropped off our food and the check, didn’t tell us to enjoy, didn’t ask if we needed anything, almost gave us the wrong food until we told her which was which. She was totally unpleasant and even to the other customers walking in she had a terrible attitude. Even the host had an unpleasant attitude like she didn’t want to be there or we were bothering her. I’m not sure who would ever want to dine here with these types of employees. I’m disappointed that we stopped here. Of all the other places we could’ve gone. Skip it if you have the option. Not worth it.
Delicious, traditional, southern, home-style food. The best country fried steak I've ever eaten, and the sides were just as good, the turnip greens and the black eyed peas are especially tasty. The atmosphere is relaxed, service is friendly and on par with the excellent quality of the food. When in the area will definitely be back!
Went in today for the first time. We ordered two, dark meat chicken dinners (3 sides: Mac & cheese, coleslaw mashed potatoes). Onion rings for appraiser, drinks: water with lemon & hubs ordered sweet tea.
We ordered at almost 2 o’clock, it was not busy at all. We were told it would be 15 minutes for the chicken, because it is cooked fresh. We were more than happy to wait for fresh food. The wait was almost 30 minutes, the chicken was warm, not hot. Very bland, I’ve had hospital food that had more flavor. The sides had no flavor, not even salt. The dinner rolls were not cooked there, but they were the best tasting thing we were served. When our food did arrive, the young girl that took our order, began using an electric sweeper to thoroughly vacuum.
I have included photos of the menu, our check charges, and our receipt of the charges we paid. The menu said $9.05 each for a dark meat chicken dinner, we were charged $10.05 each. There was also a mystery $1.95 charge. I asked if the $1.95 was for my water, no the lady said, no charge for water. She called the young lady, that took our order, over to ask. She said, I ordered french fries for an appetizer, which was true, but was changed to onion rings that I was charged for. I was then told if you order french fries as a side, it cost $1.95 extra. She then explained, she scratched out the french fry order, but forgot to remove the charge. Ok, I know we all make mistakes. Then the question of being charged $10.05 for the dark meat chicken dinner. The lady goes on to explain the printer that printed the menus are “crummy”, and they have been waiting for replacements “forever“, that price was an error. Since this was our first visit, I only had the menu to go by, and the young lady that took our order did not mention this fact to me. The lady took the charge down to the menu price of $9.05 each chicken dinner, and removed the mystery $1.95. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS????
The price was about the same as Cracker Barrel, the taste was not like Cracker Barrel at all. The place is small, the bathrooms were clean. The food portions were skimpy (there was more meat on the tiny drumstick, than on the tiny thigh), the service was almost nonexistent, the free refills did not show up, my husband drank my water with the appetizer, friendly when they took the order and payment.
I was hoping to support a local business, but this was just subpar at best, food, atmosphere and service just blah.
Don’t go there because of the song!
I'm an old 60's, 70's hippie so how could I not stop at Alice's restaurant. Google it kids..lol
So I stopped in around dinnertime.
They have a pretty varied menu, good prices. Today they offered 3 specials. One of which is a Fried Rib Dinner. I've never heard of ribs cooked this way. The waitress told me they're popular and taste good.
So what the heck, I ordered Fried Ribs and am glad I did. Very flavorful and super tender.
I'm in town for a week and I'll stop back.
Best dinner ever! Staff and friendly. Place was clean. And food size was huge.
The service was a little slow but the food was delicious. I can highly recommend the hamburger steak.
Excellent diner breakfast! Corned beef hash was perfect with a hot, fluffy biscuit. Coffee was quite good as well.
The food here was awesome. The kids meals are generous, but not overwhelming. The mac n cheese was a big hit! Husband loved the wings and fried okra. The fried catfish sandwich was really good too! The waitress was friendly and the service was quick! I’d go out of my way to eat here again. :)
