One of the best gluten free sandwiches I've ever had. I opted for the coronation chicken. Reasonably priced, beautiful fresh bread and plenty of filling. I plan on coming back every time I'm in Alfriston!
You must come here for the pasties! We had the gammon & leek, and brunch pasty - both served warm and delicious. Also very affordable (£3.50 each) so perfect for a little stop for lunch. Service was also great and seems like we had a completely different experience to others. This was our second time and would come here every time we visit Alfriston.
Good stop for a basic coffee or cold drink or even a spot of lunch. Consume it in the tiny village square opposite the shop! Popular with SDW walkers and cyclists because there's nothing else on the route for many miles. What is that monument outside?
The rolls and pastry's was so good, after cycling 20 miles this little gem was great.
We weren't going to go in initially but everyone outside said we had to and to be honest was glad we did.
Coronation Chicken Is the one to go for (unless you have an allergy to any of the ingredients), if that's the case dont :-)
What a beautiful village, lovely gift and antique shops but the experience was really let down but the rudest unfriendly staff at Alfriston Village store, The store itself is beautiful, but the staff really need to learn basic curtesy, I was treated as if I was a nuisance as opposed to a paying customer and the food isnreally expensive, which would be fine if the staff were nice, I I wish I had just left, but there was no where else to buy basic food. I can only sssume this is why they get away with this strange hostility. I watched to see if it was just me, but no they seem to treat all customers the poorly..I don’t think I have ever felt so compelled to write a review. Next time I visit I’ll defo bring my own picnic to avoid the store, also if you do buy milk or cream check the dates mine smelt bad on day one!
popped in during our cycle route at the weekend and bought a potato, leek and cheese pasty - absolutely delicious!
So charming, about the best village store you'll ever come accross. A great mix of common and luxuary food produce.
Lovely little shop with a great range of food options. Lots of gluten free choices, which is great in a village of this size. Member of staff asked if we needed help with our shop, and were polite with their recommendations.
Lots of reviews on here about rude staff, but I didn't experience that on my two visits
