My wife and I found this Clear Spring Maryland treasure on our way up to Latrobe Pennsylvania from DC!
On arrival we were immediately seated by Hannah who treated us like valued family throughout the entire visit.
From the start it was apparent that our experience mattered to her. Before we left she even went to fetch the chef so we could meet him. He was SO HAPPY to pose for a picture with his fresh roll "made with love". The man was hilarious, and it was evident that he took great pride in his kitchen creations.
The whole event was beyond what I could have imagined for a tiny pizzaria in a slip of a town.
The Staff is the REAL TREASURE here,

Came to Al's for lunch on the recommendation of a friend Thursday 5/16/24. We found a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with a very accomodating service staff. Wonderful authentic NY Style thin crust pizza! Great flavor and well cooked. Our first visit wii not be our last. Yum
The garlic rolls were delicious, light and crispy. We split the veggie calzone and have enough left over for lunch tomorrow.
We had a great experience at Al’s! Our server was very attentive. Food was good too. Nice place (good atmosphere) if you’re in the area you should check it out! We were passing through from Michigan on our way to North Carolina. I believe we’d come back on our way home. Thanks for taking good care of us :)
Food was tasty, but was also extremely greasy and overpriced in my opinion. Other than that no complaints. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean.

I’m on a roadtrip with my family. I’m kinda having a hard time in life right now for a few reasons. I’m telling you that because this place was one of the most pleasant surprises I’ve ever experienced. And this came at a moment where I really needed it. The food portions are extremely generous and the chicken panini….I could literally eat that for lunch every single day and be happy. I’ve never been more excited to eat leftovers in my entire life- and leftovers give me anxiety sometimes. My parents’ food was excellent as well. The incredible gentleman running the floor is an amazing, wholesome, personable, and very kind human being. This place is a warm hug on a day you need it the most. I was blown away by the experience. This place will be a staple on our trips from now on. To whoever owns this business, please keep your staff happy because you have a very special business. Thank you for this amazing experience and food.
Family atmosphere. The food was delicious. I had the calzone and a chef salad. It was very good. The portions were very big. I ended up feeding 4 people from those two dishes. Staff was very friendly and the wait was not long.
Don't pass this up! After being on the road for 7 days, we were so tired of fast food. This was the first exit with food in a while, and the options were McD's or Al's. I'm so happy we stopped here! I wouldn't typically stop at a restaurant attached to a gas station, but this is completely its own entity. It's a clean store with its own restrooms for customers, a casual atmosphere, the food was delicious (we had the meat lover's pizza), high chairs are available and there's a changing table in the women's restroom. Service was kind and quick. This is the perfect place to grab a bite and recharge on a trip.
