One of the kindest man youll ever meet. He came to my great grandpas house and did his hair up until he passed. He did my hair as a kid and im happy to take my son there now for his. Town treasure
Joe, the owner of this establishment is a great barber. I had been to another place twice, hoping that they would or could understand what I wanted in a haircut, but they obviously couldn't. I explained to Joe what I would like and the outcome was what better than I had imagined, and they are good people, easy to talk with. He has gained me as a customer for as long as I decide to keep my hair short. Just 1 year ago and for 99% of the past 45 years or so my hair has been from 1/4 to 1/2 down the length of my back, I tend to be very critical about the look of my hair. If you want an awesome, fantastic looking cut, look no further, thus is where you want to be!!!
Nice to still have an old time barber shop you can trust and get a guitar at the same place. Awesome little joint
Akmons”s is a unique barber shop. There is nothing like it. Joe and his wife give the best haircuts far and beyond Paris and Kentucky. They take their time and make sure that your hair will look great. It is unique and original as you may experience a small group of musicians play bluegrass music. If your looking for a great haircut this is the place to go. If you are from out of town you have to stop by and get a haircut as well. It will be a memorable experience and your hair will look great!
Where else can you get a haircut and hot shave, while listening to live bluegrass!
If you stop by Akemon's in the late afternoon or early evening, you may have a chance to have Caroline cut your hair or give you a shave while Joe picks with another artist. If Joe cuts your hair, you can always enjoy watching a western while he spruces you up.
I've been going to Akemon's for years. Joe and Caroline are the best!
This seemingly quaint Barbershop boasts a spectacular music repair shop and school in the back.
Mr. Akemon gives lessons in guitar, stand-up bass, violin and a number of other instruments.
You can also receive classes from other instructors as well.whole place has a feel of sophistication you can only find in Kentucky "The Bluegrass State"
My son is 37 now and still goes to Joe even if he lives in another town he drives to Paris for his haircuts still after all these years. My friend in Lexington husband comes here as well and she asked why drive an hour when there's hundreds of shops here and he said because none are like Joe.
