One of the lower paying companies starting off at 50 cpm, tho advertised at $1500-1800 a week. I drove for them for 7 weeks only one check netted $1000 that's because I drove to Kentucky and Ohio that week i grossed $1300. I averaged $600-800 take home. Depending on your tax situation a load to Denver and back is around $ 700 before taxes then they'll either send you to Houston or Austin which pays 250 flat rate, totalling around $950 then your taxes come into play. Then you must go over your checks weekly because they will withhold funds from you if you don't stay aware. I found myself emailing payroll every other week bc my check would usually never have my local runs. I didn't get my first check I thought it was 2 weeks in the hole until I got my second check, that week I got 2 checks. After the 3rd time of receiving a short check I filed a claim with TWC for unpaid wages I got tired of working hard all week only to dispute the wages I'm owed. Ernestine and Alex were very exceptional during my time there. They made the job easier.
I’m Duffie and this has been by far the best company I’ve ever worked for. They keep constant communication when needed easy to reach no micromanaging and they pay well. Easy routes on 287 and electronic logs that work perfect! I’d recommend you work here!
Drivers beware. This company wants you to assume liability for insurance premiums, wants to dock pay, and wants to fine you for quitting! Get in an accident? You just worked last month for free! Had to drive an extra 30 minutes to find a spot to park? $100 fine! Want to quit before they say you can? $500 in fees! And the hiring manager's only response when I questioned him about it was "Trust me bro, we're not out to get you." as he insists I have to sign these papers.
And to the reply from the owner, I've provided pictures of pre hire documents I was asked to sign. You can't deny it.
This company sucks they don't pay empty miles in top of that the pay sucks plus they charge you for tolls good luck with osha
They want you to run personal conveyance to the shipper and driver 12-14hrs to make delivery. They say " we didn't tell you to do that" they want you to run dallas to Denver which is 12hr drive. Companies like these are ruining the freight market

I've worked for AKAL for about two months and I'm enjoying it. One thing I remember from trucking school 12 years ago. My trainer said "if you don't like this tucking company you won't like any trucking company cause they're all the same.". Truer words couldn't have been spoken. Many drivers work for companies for a month or two and decide they want to look for greener pastures. Like any business, there is a busy season and a slow season and you can see the change in season on many driver resumes.
