Very friendly and excellent hair braider! The service was top-notch, and the braids turned out beautifully. Plus, the pricing was reasonable. We will definitely be back for more fabulous braids!
I love getting my hair done here. It’s very clean and AJ is very professional. She always comes through when I need her to do my hair and always adjust her schedule for me. She makes me feel comfortable and she always gives me what I ask for and make the vision come to light. Thanks for always showing up and showing out for me. And the best part she has growing hands. My hair has grown tremendously since coming to AJ’s.
Scheduled an appointment to get a Havana Twist for 12/26/22 (1pm-4pm). Traveled from Seattle and made sure to schedule this appointment on 11/30/22. The day of my appointment I called to be told she is closed. No notification of this schedule change. If I didn’t call I wouldn’t have found this out. Nothing wrong with closing shop but it is wrong to disrespect clients time and I am not with it. Just wanted to warn others that chooses this unprofessional hair braider.
I had a great experience! AJ was professional, kind & patient. She did my exactly how I wanted. I will use her again. I mean she opened her shop on a Sunday afternoon for me because Sunday’s are by appointment only. Thank you so much, AJ!
These ladies did an AMAZING job on my braids. I have a pretty big head and I got small, long box braids. The ladies were VERY professional and patient. I have recommended several of my coworkers to get their hair done here. My braids lasted a long time. I definitely plan to go back!
My name is Brenda. I've gotten my braids 3 times by AJ'S hair shop. She has excellent customer service. The prices are reasonable for the styles. Excellent, Fast, and friendly professional services. Thank you for having a great business that I can appreciate.
The following was my experience:
- I setup an appointment for Marley braids/Havana twist for Friday at 10:30 and I was told that it would be $200.00 for this style using 16 inch hair.
- When I went to the hair store I remembered I always get 12 inches for the style I like. After I purchased my hair and I was on my way. Someone from the shop calls to make sure I’m still coming, and I say yes but the hair I have is 12 inches not 16 inches so what would the price be? She began to sound very hesitant and told me between 180 and 200, and for me to just bring the hair to the shop and we’ll see. I reply, No I’m on my way there now, I need a price before I get there I can’t play these games. She finally tell me it will just be 180.00 and I said okay.
- Once I get to the shop, there were no price lists posted in the front of the salon and they tell me I can have a seat.
- The stylist takes the braiding hair out and start brushing and stretching it and starts to complain about how long it is and makes several other remarks about the length while doing my hair.
- There were times the stylist would get stray hairs in a section and get mad at me for pointing it out. Instead of starting the braid over, she would break my hair. I would also hear her complain about my natural hair.
- While I’m in my chair, I hear another conversation going on with a different customer and presumably the shop owner about how the customer was told one price before she got to shop and that her style would actually be $20.00 more. Although I understand this was none of my business, it was a red flag in my opinion about this particular salon. It’s was only 10:30 in the morning and this shop has already had price discrepancies with two customers… once again where is the price list posted?
- The stylist gets done with my hair and I go to swipe my card and she tells me that they don’t have a card machine and that I have to go to Walgreens. So I agreed and just as I’m about to leave she asks me to leave my phone as collateral. I dropped my phone down and proceed to my car. Then she meets me outside and asks me if I would like her to walk with me several times basically trying to tell me what I’m about to do. I told her I’m disabled, I’m not walking anywhere! Then she imposes again and tells me that she, a woman I just met, can ride with me, a grown woman, to the Walgreens in the same shopping center.(yes, walking distance but not for me in my condition) She then takes a picture of my license plate and starts telling me some SOB story about how a customer ran out on her last week. NOT MY PROBLEM!!!
- I came back and left $180.00 cash on her booth and grabbed my phone and got out of there. As I was leaving the other stylist told me that she wasn’t done and still had to put moose on my hair and trim it. I told them I could do that myself and to have the stylist erase the picture of my tags from her phone.
- I am highly capable of doing my own hair but I came to the salon for convenience as it was my birthday weekend. A week later I have had to redo a few twists.
- I was just very disappointed by the actions and lack of overall professionalism of the salon. Surely this salon can at least afford the square as a means of payment in 2018.
Some great women work in this salon in this salon and this review is regarding an individual working in this particular salon her name is Chante Jones and this is what she is known as on Facebook, she has a booth here and does braids and Faux locks and this is my experience with her....My advice do not ever book her...
During summer months I wear braids or twist, so I went into an African Hair braiding place here in Nashville (AJ African Hair Braiding on murfreesboro road) I met a young lady called her some time later and she agreed to Braid my hair this past Friday 6/28 at 10am, she text me the type of Hair to purchase for the style and bought exactly that.
On Thusday 6/27 I confirm my appointment at 5pm via text at this time she responds and says I have a doctor's appointment at 10make it 12????. I'm a little pissed because she never contacted me and the appointment is the next day so now yes red flags are up.
Friday morning I arrive at 12 no stylist 12:17 I text 12:23 she responds be there shortly 12:47 she pulls up????.
We sit in the chair she places my hair in 4 puffs and proceeds to ask me where I'm going on vacation then proceeds to tell me the hair I purchased ;the hair she text me to purchase is incorrect and to achieve the look I want I need another type:
To shorten this story I drive to take the hair back, the hair store does not have it and will not refund my money of course. WHILE in the store I speak to the stylist tell her I'm purchasing additional hair, I go to another store purchase more hair, total on hair 100.00. Return to the salon the Stylist is gone. I text no response, I call her phone is turned off voice mail full. The Salon owner states she packed up her stuff when I left someone else came with hair they left together. I have never heard from this woman again she will not answer my calls Chante Jones.
Im a professional and I hold a license and certificate with two organizations that hold me accountable for my actions. I want to know what would any of you do in this situation. This young lady only rents a booth from AJ African Braiding but she works under their name and I think she represents them.
After lots of giggles the ladies in the salon did my hair charged me 20.00 more. I tagged the young woman who did this to me in this post because I haven't been able to have a grown up conversation with her about her actions and I wouldn't want her to feel I was talking behind her back.
