When all the rooms are modernized this hotel will be superb. Public areas are very comfortable clean and modern. The restaurant is first class and the quality of the food and service is excellent. It is a buffet style breakfast but it is hot and appetizing and being continually recharged.
The pool and the hot tub, steam room and sauna are all good.
All in all would have given a five star review if only the room we had was better. However a modernization programme is under way and is being addressed. Would we come back? Absolutely
Airth was always our go-to favourite. Its only 45minutes from home and always had some cracking dinner, bed & breakfast deals. February half term holidays and we secured a B&B deal for 2ad&2ch for £54 on booking.com. Great price. Hotel room was very tired (curtains hanging off rails, threadbare carpets, marked furniture) i knew the hotel was full and due to how little we paid i didnt bother complaining. Reception girls were lovely, bubbly & helpful!||Dinner was awful (al a carte menu) - overcooked, dry, chewy ox cheek that had to be sent back to heat up and freezing cold, obviously previously frozen sirloin steak. So disappointed as food has always been fab on previous visits. ||Drink prices are very high now too.||Pool was ok, water was quite murky.||After chatting with someone who is staying at the hotel tonight i can confidently say that this hotel will not survive the next month. The chef has walked out, leaving the hotel tonight having to refund people for dinner package deals and pay for peoples takeaways and supply chocolate bars and free drinks to guests. It is a sinking ship that is going down fast. Such a shame as I have been a regular visitor for 14yrs now. Hopefully it will be snapped up by another buyer and turned around to its former glory.

Booked a family room in Airth Castle Hotel for valentines night for our family for my birthday. Arrived at 2.45pm to check in…was greeted with a very rude receptionist called Deborah who glared at us but said nothing…so we said “Hi were here to check in….she then said snappily all reservations have been cancelled you should have received an email. We were in shock firstly at her attitude and also the fact that when we checked our emails we were only sent one 1.15pm stating booked cancelled with no explanation. We were travelling at that time so clearly didn’t get the email hence why we turned up! We then asked to speak to manager as we were very annoyed and upset at the initial treatment from the receptionist. The general manager Rhys then came over and didn’t even introduce himself I had to ask him…he then proceeded to say your booking doesn’t exist so there is nothing we can do…at this point we were challenging him asking why this had happened and he stated they had no gas so kitchen was off..I then said we would be willing to stay there tonight room only basis as our children only wanted to use the pool facility and other guests who were already staying were permitted to do this….he said that is not option and when challenged again why we couldn’t do this he said your booking doesn’t exist so we won’t be accommodating you he did not at any point offer us any apology or alternative arrangement and when we challenged him he was rude and obnoxious and then had the cheek to ask us to leave the hotel as we were being aggressive!!!! Other guests witnessed this and also agreed that the staff were rude and unhelpful with them also!!! We were left shocked and our children were very upset! No one should be treated like that especially from hospitality staff. Never experienced anything like it at all in all my overnight stays in different hotel all over!! Customer service was non existent! Would not want any other family getting treated like this!!!
Food service/restaurant: Was met by friendly bar staff who asked us if we were wanting lunch. We indicated that we wanted just coffee & cake and was told that was fine. Suggested that we sit anywhere... someone would take our order. Many staff passed us by for about 20 minutes until finally my husband caught a young waitstaff's eye. We asked if we would be able to order coffees... reluctantly, he agreed but wasn't sure about the cake. He went to get menus. Came back without but suggested a cream tea... tea with scone option... asked if we could get coffee instead of tea... answered no. Again offered option to just have coffee... we answered no. Got up & left very disappointed. For a hotel of high repute, not very helpful or accommodating. Poor customer service. We had been thinking about booking a weekend away... not going to happen now. Also, will not be bringing our expected visitors as we had also planned. Lots of revenue lost. Shame.
Stayed here recently and had a great time - staff were friendly and accommodating, food was good and we had a great stay. There were four of us so we had two rooms - one was a generous size, modern and really lovely.. the other was quite run down and dated so we were a little dissapointed. I do know there’s renovations going on so hopefully it’s just the case that the other room hadn’t been worked on yet. We made use of the pool, jacuzzi, steam room etc - again I think that in there could do with a little bit of work and more loungers but we did enjoy it. I’d definitely return and as mentioned staff at reception and bar staff were all great!
Terrible experience. Came to celebrate my friends 50th birthday. At check in only one room of 2 was ready so we headed along to the room. The room was anything but ready no pillows or duvet on beds. Furniture was a disgrace and certainly not 4* , more fit for the dump. We went back to reception and other rooms were found for us. I can only say these rooms were slightly better with damp stains on lamp shade, marks on the walls, curtains didn’t meet in the middle. On the way to the rooms at 3:40pm the corridors were full of dirty dishes/glasses, empty bottles and laundry. You expect to see this in the morning as your leaving but certainly not at that time of day when you have checked in.
Staff helpful. On request the manager came to our room to discuss the issues with us.
Wouldn’t go back.
Pity I couldn’t upload the pictures but been put on trip advisor ????
If I could give minus-10 stars I would. What an absolute shambles of a hotel. Allows you to book Dinner, Bead & Breakfast yet there’s no staff or chef to offer food, yep..... advised at 5pm the restaurant is closed. Check-in at 3pm yet rooms not ready until after 5pm as no maids available to clean rooms. First room was not fit for purpose, moved to another room, not fit for purpose but better than first..... now waiting on a fold-bed for our son and still not here after 5hrs. Mr Steven McLeod, you are a disgrace to keep this place running as a hotel. ||Filthy, dangerous, understaffed, just a few words of description. Staff a joke, but trying their best..... ||What a shame, been coming to this hotel for 30 years and this is the lowest of the low, it must be sold on to someone that can give it some love.... so much potential and staff willing to try...... time to let this hotel move to better hands!!! ||A few photos attached to show just how bad this hotel is..... blood on the curtains, beds falling apart, lights falling off the wall, sockets missing..... it’s endless!!!!!
Was a bit of a mixed experience from our overnight here, cost for B&B the was excellent, room was a little dated but clean. Spa area was great and the treatments were reasonably priced, the steak was superb, gits cheese not so much, breakfast was excellent but the bar was very disappointing. All draught lagers were spoiled, probably poor pump maintenance or cleaning, not once received a clean glass, and it closed 9.45. Considering the low cost of the room you would think a fully maintained and running bar would be a priority for a decent return on costs. Would go again though as it may just be a hangover from the pandemic and the rest of the place was fine.
