Nigerian food restaurant in Deptford, London.
Puff puff, buns, jollof rice, moi moi, pounded yam, Suya, etc.
Ordered puff puff, buns and Suya. The buns were too oily.
Also, the puff puff is not “fry as you go”. Lagos style.
And they also ran out of it. We bought the last portion. They didn’t have enough.
Decent overall.
This is just beautiful, warming and sustaining food. Ordered the stewed beans with agege and an import Nigerian Coca-Cola (believe me, it's better) and it was a fabulous meal. Spice that warms but doesn't sting; a generous portion of mashed beans; soft, sweet agege bread. Not sure why the reviews mention bad service, they couldn't have been more welcoming.
You get what you ask for, and in the right state. You know you would get your expectations, especially when you discussed it with Mr "Agege Bread". Can I then ask for more?
The owner is bad behaved and loud, he cheats you of your change just because it “2p” and the hygiene is poor, the same hand used on the counter is put right into food in kitchen
Poor customer service. Old guy behind the till doesn’t know how to communicate with customers. Got a cute daughter but a primary school child has no reason being behind a till taking money when she doesn’t know how to give the right change whilst the father speaks to his friends sat around the side.
I went there last week to buy pounded Yam and Egusi stew. When I returned home I took the pounded yam out of the cling film only to find it had not been turned properly. The powder was still in it. Also it looked grey. I can Never buy from this place again. I only went in there because I was tired and too lazy to walk down to the other end of the high street to a place where you can count on good food. The owner was very rude to me before, that even his wife had to chastise him on that occasion and I walked out without buying anything. I will Not be going there ever again for anything. It is a shame. We try to patronise our own people but some are not worth patronising. Great Shame. Thank goodness there are others who we Can patronise.
I went in to the shop in Deptford market on Sunday morning to buy bread. I asked the owner if there was any left only for him to say to me sarcastically “ o ri pe o po ni be ni, o se ko gbo gbo e (can you not see there is a lot there, why not take everything) The baskets were empty and another customer made me aware that there were a few more underneath the baskets. The owner is very very very rude and obnoxious and if I was to give him an answer he would hate himself. One more thing he should be wearing gloves when he is serving food as he has the most disgusting hands you can imagine. I love his bakery but he is one very rude old man. I think he should be reported to trading standards for uncleanliness of the shop and the way he treats his customers.
Poor customer service, went in and ask if the wholemeal bread was new, only for the man at the till to start yelling, telling me he doesn't have time for me and if I'm going to buy I should just buy. Won't be returning. Especially after hearing the news about their hygiene ratings.
