We got the lamb Kabuli Palaw and combination plate #1 that comes with beef kabob and chicken and replaced rice with hummus.
Palaw is good, $2 more than the one in Kabul House, but I think the portion is slightly better with more meat, but was served a bit cold. They also serve sides with it unlike Kabul house. The combination plate is a little on the expensive end in my opinion, but tastes pretty good.
And I think it’s a self-serving place, you just grab the dish when ready and put them away when done.
Would visit again and try out different dishes.
I have always ordered takeout from this restaurant, but ate there for the first time yesterday, and the service and atmosphere were both excellent. The staff were very friendly and responsive to our needs.
I had the combination beef and lamb kabob with the Palaw rice. The meat was very tender and tasty, and the rice seasoned in the traditional Afghan style, with carrots and raisins. And there was a really yummy Afghan salad with onions and cucumber.
Overall, I would highly recommend Afghan Kabob restaurant!
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The menu offered a wide variety of delicious options, but we settled on the kabobs, and we were not disappointed. The flavors were exquisite, the meat tender, and the portion sizes generous. The staff was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that we can't wait to repeat!
We had the appetizer special. Everything was so good! I had the lamb shank for my meal. It is the most tender, delicious lamb shank that I have ever had. My daughter had the chicken and beef lunch special. The rice and meats were seasoned perfectly. I had the hot black tea and my daughter had the green tea. They were both flavored with cardamom. The portions for the food and teas were abundant! This the best Afghani restaurant in the Chicago area, and we have tried all 3. We will definitely return!
Afghan kabab is one of a kind restaurant in whole chicago area, with best Afghan food, I personally love the Kabuly, there are some other Afghan dishes that are impossible to find in the area like kabab, Chapli kabab, Lamb Krayee, Mantu and Bolani I highly recommend it to every one give a try once you come over and over again.
Our first visit to the Afghan Kabob restaurant left us completely satisfied! As fans of oriental cuisine, we were excited to try out this new spot for my sister engagement party, and we were not disappointed.Overall, we had a fantastic experience at the Afghan Kabob restaurant and will return soon! The rice with carrot and raisins was so yummy. The appetizer platter and the lamb and chicken kabobs were so good…
Lastly, please please use the homemade hot sauce available by the cutlery! It is bright and its acidity is perfect and fresh and fruity! Use it on everything!!
One of the best food we’ve had in a long time. Everything we ordered was delicious. The platter of kebabs, the kabuli pulao, a chikpea appetizer I forgot the name of, chicken wrap….everything was top notch. Special mention for the afghan tea, I absolutely loved it and ordered one more coz it was that satisfying.
Highly recommend this place and we will be surely coming back.
