The Green Beans & Lamb sauce was essentially lamb pieces in a tomato sauce that lacked depth and tasted as if it was just poured from a can. Green beans were also straight from a can. Wouldn't order it again.
The pomegranate seeds and walnuts that garnished the dish were the highlight and I'm grateful for the salt, pepper, and habanero powder (I never leave home without it) that I could add to the dish.
The hummus was good.
I was starving so it sufficed. Waitress was pleasant. I managed with one napkin. No one checked on me. No one was around to greet me upon entering either.
Stumbled across this gem of an eatery.Authentic Syrian cuisine.we had chicken stew with olives as mains and Kibbeh for starters.those were both excellent.the owner is a lovely man.will definitely recommend to anyone who likes Syrian food.
What a gem in Queensway market.
I had the chicken and the aubergine dip, both fantastic. The chicken was one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had in my life. It fell right off the bone and was moist and came with saffron rice and a saffron based sauce.
The owner has a great story too. He is Syrian and had his own restaurant in Syria before the war, and recently opened up this spot to keep himself busy. He’s kind and runs the restaurant mostly by himself, which was no issue since I came for lunch at an odd but quiet time.
Portions are generous (I had leftovers packed for takeaway) and pricing is fair. I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu.
This is the best restaurant I have been too. It was my first time trying Syrian food and the dishes were INCREDIBLE. Amazing and delicious. The chicken curry is tasty, light and with beautiful presentation. The grilled chicken is very tender and delicious. The cheese and spinach pastries were great. All the food is cooked fresh from scratch on the spot. The owner is so friendly and is always smiling. Wow!!!
"An excellent dining experience! The food was delicious with a wide variety of options to choose from. The service was great, and I enjoyed every dish I tried. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a diverse menu and great service." ????
This was the second time we have been here, definitely a hidden gem. In terms of dishes, I would highly recommend the Shakeria as the star dish. The lamb was so tender, and beautiful in the yoghurt sauce.
The chicken curry was good too, (the best curry we have had since coming to London so far).
Lastly, don't forget to order the hummus as a starter, it's just amazing. We had a Konafa which was an interesting dish to try and great as a dessert.
Will definitely be back for sure!
I had a really lovely evening with friends at Abu Mayer in Queensway. Food was so delicious and it was very reasonably priced. All home cooked and very well presented. We all left very happy and full! Its a quiet place but the owner is very welcoming you immediately make your table feel comfortable and at home. I'll definitely be back and recommend anyone to pop in for lunch or dinner. Thank you so much ????
Cute, no-frills Syrian restaurant with a very kind owner. We ordered an array of starters and mains to share, and while the food was good, I did feel like it didn't live up to my expectations given the really high ratings. Maybe we didn't order the best dishes - I did see lots of Arab families dining there so assume that the food is good and authentic! Would come back and try some other dishes next time.
