THINK CAREFULLY AND CONSIDER YOUR OPTIONS BEFORE GOING TO A&R AUTO REPAIRS.
This company needs to be closed down.
The car was supposed to go in for an oil chain replacement. We got told the car would need the timing chain replaced and re aligned for £1600. They said this might not fix the problem and a replacement engine might be required at a cost of £3k. The car value is around £3k.
They pressurised me for the removal of the car or as they made clear they were not going to fix it. I assumed this was because the job was too much for them. A&R auto repairs said if I didn’t pick the car up they will charge for parking fees. I asked them to put the car back together and I’ll get a truck round as soon as I could.
2 days later the pick up truck arrived to collect the car. A&R called to say I had to PAY them parking fees before they released the car. The wanted 2 weeks parking fees at an extortionate price. Even though I had two days notice from them over the New year period. However, when the car returned to my son’s house. The pictures provided shows the state we are now left with.
A&R motors tried to take advantage of a vulnerable young lad in the hope to take his car from him.
The car went to another nearby Garage and got the repair done for £500. This proving A&R motors are either Scammers or they don’t know what they are doing.

Would not recommend for welding of any sort. They may have good reviews for mechanical work but I would look elsewhere for any welding work, there are plenty of other welders in Clydebank capable of doing a job to the standard required.
Booked a cab in for a replacement outer sill (I even provided a sill for them to weld on) Was quoted £500, which was later disputed, collected the vehicle and found my sill panel had been butchered and the sill had been plated, initial instruction was to replace the outer Sill with the panel provided. Sill also still had holes in it. Spoke with the lady who appeared to be in charge she agreed to “fix” this as the initial job was if an unacceptable standard.

Vehicle went back in 3 days later, collected and was left with what I can only describe as a monstrosity of a repair and was given back half a sill repair panel I had supplied. The vehicle failed its mot based on the welding
To this day it boggles my mind that they decided to butcher and plate this rather than replace. Added about 4 extra days work for no reason….. also tried to extort another £300 out of my elderly father to fix their mistakes.
Also asked for an invoice for the work, I was told I’d receive it via email, currently still waiting?
I don’t need to say anymore as the pictures below of the “finished” work say enough.
I had to take the vehicle to a proper welder for the sill to be cut out and started again, 4 weeks later and at least a thousand out of pocket.
Miracle Workers.
They really worked a miracle for me today. After
serious pothole damage to my car they had new drop links, coil springs, strut mounts and a tyre all fitted in a day. They worked extra hours to have the car back on the road in less than 24 hours after the damage was caused.
Luckily for me they'd had a cancellation and could use the time to treat mine as an emergency. And all at a fraction of the price the dealer would have charged.
I cannot thank you enough.
My girlfriend had issues with sudden slow acceleration on her Fiat 500 (2012). Took the car to A&R that night and the next day they identified the issue to be the clutch through a detailed WhatsApp video. The clutch was fixed the next day and now running smoothly with no issues. Really great garage and priced very well. Thank you for the job!
Phoned A & R Autos this morning as my exhaust had blown, I was asked to bring the car over, they had a look and I needed the middle and end sections, within less than 2 hours parts ordered and fitted. Brilliant customer service and polite and friendly staff. I’ll be back for future repairs.

Great service renewed clutch and replaced tyre 2 guys were great no waiting managed to fit me in day after contact .Price was great also very happy will definitely use again and highly recommend this garage thankyou guys.

I got my Rear Axcle Replace and Also disc handbrake cable Caliper Carrier fixed and the staff were very helpful. They had good pricing and also got the job done very quickly I'm very happy to have found this garage with great service, thank you!
A&R autos is a great little garage, the mechanic is a top lad. Rather than replace my exhaust which would have cost me a fortune he repaired it for a fraction of the price, and considering I just turned up he took the car of me straight away and I collected it all within a couple of hours. I will definitely be back when I need work done .
