Tried today (Sunday), as only Chinese Fish and chip takeaways open. I requested lightly battered fish, but it was still heavy and over crispy. The texture of the fish itself was very strange and tasteless. I don't know what is used, but nothing like I've had before. The chips were over cooked. It was very hot, but I couldn't eat the fish and only had some of the chips. Was a waste of money as I binned them. I spent around £16 on 3 of us. The lady was lovely and friendly and we managed a conversation even with a bit of a language barrier. I wouldn't buy the same again. Only cash can be used.

This is the only place in Darwen that I know of that DOESN'T 'velvet' their chicken (where chicken is rested in an egg white/baking powder and gives a 'silken' texture.)
I sent on 2 occasions and bought 1 fish & chips, 1 sausage & chips, 1 dab and a pot of curry sauce for just over £10! Good portions, nice chips. Fish was quite soft (likely 'white fish' not cod or haddock) dabs are always good here!
Next time I went I got a chicken chow mein and a special fried rice. The chow mein was lacking of any flavour, and looked quite pale and insipid. Quite disappointing apart from the non-velvetted chicken, i added some soy sauce and oyster sauce i had at home which made it more palatable. The special fried rice was better.
Staff are always pleasant.
Ordered fish & chips as it was one of the only fish & chip shops open on a Sunday. It was Father's day and fish and chips is my Dad's favourite. Communication was very difficult on the phone with the owner struggling to understand me, I think I finally got there although when I collected the order, the jumbo sausage I had ordered wasn't in the order and I think I had paid for it, but because communication was so difficult, it was difficult to tell.
The fish was awful. I am pretty sure it wasn't cod or haddock, it was extremely mushy and it may have been Vietnamese river fish. The batter was extremely hard on one side as the fish had been cooked twice. The chips were ok but not great. The mushy peas were a bit flavourless.
I'm not sure what the take away is like for a chinese but I would not recommend it for fish and chips.
The lady who owns the shop was lovely and very polite. I would give it a go for a chinese takeaway and I will re-review once I have sampled that.
Ordered Chicken Chow Mein and Chips
The chips were pretty good
But the chow mein, the noodles tasted like cardboard, it was covered in a p*ss like sauce. The chicken didn't even taste like chicken. Plus found like 2 random mushrooms that weren't meant to be in there. Missing the veg it actually needed
Only good things was the chips
This as to be the best Chinese in Darwen . Chicken in green pepper was awesome . Wings so tasty and never overpriced .
Just been for a take away and ordered a special chow main and fish and chips and I can honestly say it was by far the most bland tasteless meal I've have ever had I never write reviews but on this I have to. The only thing left to do was throw all of it in the bin
Excellent value for money we each had a different meal cooked fresh whilst we waited. It was quick and delicious
