The annual visit back home isn't complete, until I've been to Ye Olde's to grab some pasties! A local staple, been around since 1887, and there's a reason for that, the patiea are pretty special.
If you're reading this, your prob from out of town, as the locals know this places open and closes early, so if you're looking to sample, try go before the lunch time rush. Even if you do go around lunch time, the queue moves quick.
On to the food, pictured here are the potatoes cakes (these are best put under the grilled at home), cheese pastie (Creamey, Cheesey & Potatoey, all at the same time), sausage roll (straight banger!), and chocolate exclars!
Staff are super friendly and helpful, when you go to order inside, the place is a little tight and can seem chaotic, but it's part of the experience and charm :)
There are quite a few things in the back kitchen, so ask the staff to see if they have what you're looking for, for example, I didn't see chocolate eclairs out front, but they did have them in the back.
Everything was delicious as usual ✅️
This was my first time sampling the eclairs, and they didn't disappoint.
For me personally, the eclair tops were slightly on the chocolately side, it would be great if Ye Olde's could trial making the eclairs with half thr chocolate on top, to balance out the overall eclair experience ????

Pasties and Pies cakes bread sandwiches are all top quality. The prices are reasonable and far from greedy, like the other pastie shops around Bolton.
Well Done and thank you. My children all 5 of them aged from 34 to 9 have loved your pasties and pies for ever. My Mum in the late 70s and 80s took me shopping in Bolton would always get me a pie.
Excellent pasties and pies!!! I use to love coming there on my lunch break. I live in Canada now and wish I had the recipe to make those. So delicious!!!
I moved away from Bolton 30 odd years ago and now I've returned to my roots during a conversation with my mum we mentioned Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe. Armed with a shopping list from Boltonians now living in exile I returned to relive my youth. Nothing had changed, still a queue, same crazy shaped pasties and friendly staff. Oh my god, these pasties are as good as I remembered and fairly priced. Potato cakes still like fluffy little clouds and a wimberry pie that my grandmother would've been proud of! Can't wait to go back with yet another shopping list. Bolton at its finest.
A very down to earth experience, had to queue for 5 minutes because only 2 in shop at once. Very friendly. The lady who served me even went out back to get me a Vanilla Slice, well worth it????. Well worth a visit, I only went because of Danny Malin @RateMyTakeAway. Delicious???? (I did also buy an Eccles Cake) all for £3.60!!! Well worth it. I will visit again. NB: They close tomorrow for 2 weeks re-open 02/08.
Been today for the first time wow great prices and polite staff .the pasties are better than another pie shop ever .and they do a age of food resalable prices will be back .

Super clean and all covid restrictions adhered to. Pasties are melt in your mouth to die for as always ???????????????????? I takes me own ketchup.
Also the potato cakes are heavenly and too good to share so I hide them ???? away from my children ????
