I was in Chinatown yesterday, so I had to stop at Won Kok and buy some Dim Sum to go. My favorite is the Baked BBQ pork buns.
The Dim Sum menu is limited, but good enough if you just want a few basics. I'm glad I was able to stop here. Prices are very reasonable.
Updated menu prices in photos. This is like Won Kok in SF except the dumplings are a little smaller. The service is slow, and the separate line for dim sum can be long. I two containers of dim sum for $20, and tried the ye wonton, which was very Americanized.
Dim sum here is very cheap and excellent. Lots of food for a good price. I swear downtown LA charges double price for the same exact items and same taste. Dinner meals are also great.
Skip the fried dishes and get some real Chinese food like their eggplant dish or half chicken ginger dish and some rice. We liked those dishes a lot. Cooked Chinese eggplant correctly. The eggplant dish can use a bit more eggplant though.
The restaurant should consider keeping its floors cleaner though. Not a fan of sticky floors...
Best place in Chinatown for dim sum. Dim sum is ordered through the take out window. There is always a line, but it moves pretty fast. Very fresh and delicious dim sum. They also have regular menu, sit down as well. Highly recommend, will be back.
Waited in line, which I think wasn’t too bad around 1pm midweek. The standout for us was the baked coconut buns, haven’t had these in years and these ones were so good. Char siew bao and baked pastry really good too, curry chicken puff okay could have had a little more curry flavour to it, siew mai’s also good. I’m not the biggest egg tart lover, but these were good. About $40 for all food pictured which was pretty good too. Great on-the-go option for a short stop in Chinatown in a day full of sight seeing.
True cantonese cuisine with great flavor. We got the dinner for 2, and it was a ton of food! Not the friendliest service, but the food was worth it. They also have dim sum and sell it by the piece at a reasonable price. We'll definitely come back the next time we're in DTLA
My one my favorite stops in Los Angeles. This little spot is a gem. I love dim sum, baked pork bums. Food is awesome! You will not be disappointed.
When you are looking for a quick dimsum fix, go here. They have a take out window where they serve bakery items, shumai, hargow, desserts like cookies and buns. Line is always long so make sure you have enough time to line up. They have free parking but only 10 spots or less and its almost always full. There’s paid street parking or paid parking garage around it.
