It is often difficult or boring to order something nice if one's a vegetarian. Deep fried haloumi, battered vegetarian sausages often taste and texture like window putty are the ones going around at the moment.
I ordered a Tibetean and Thai Green curry recommended by the the lady behind the counter at Woks Cooking. Both of the dishe's main ingredient is Tofu and were delicious. Breath of fresh air for us humble vegetarians as well as carnivors.
All of the ingredients were fresh (al dente) , not over cooked and good flavour. Excellent portion, good value for money (cash only) as well as quality. Friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend.
Good Chinese as well as English food menu. Fish and chips often better than the 'better' chippy further away!

Can be busy on Friday nights, even if phone order through- that's the only reason I gave 4 for service
I feel like this place is going down hill :( they always used to do a really good chippy fish (white fillet, fresh, meaty and light tasty batter), but lately it’s been chewy, fishy and overly thick batter) it’s just not the same quality as before.
I also used to like their crispy chilly chicken… but that too has been very vinegary, sharp and chewy lately, nothing like a chilli sauce.
I hope they can bring back the quality of food we’ve always been used to in the past, as this was always my favourite takeaway to go to and I do miss the food.
Going down hill I’m afraid, ordered food tonight and the standard was poor (second time now) watery soup, bland tasteless meals and the so called large chips….weren’t, will be trying somewhere different from now on.
We have been coming to this takecaway for over 20 years. My god daughter even had 2 former longstanding and lovely members of staff at her wedding. A counter assistant was extremely rude a couple of weeks back. We are very well known to the take away. The short dark haired pierced girl in question was standoff ish . And though my god daughter asked for lots of salt and vinegar the assistant barely put any on. My goddaughter put her own on ( never been a problem ) and the assistant snatched it out if her hand and through gritted teeth said don't do that. My god daughter has a brain haemorrhage an suffers seizes which can be Brought on my stress amongst other things. She was so upset she walked out instead of losing her cool and the ' assistant' then proceeded to call her names under her breath in front of other customers who also looked shocked. Absolutely horrified. Staff have always been brilliant but this character needs to go to a charm school! Won't be in a rush to go back despite as previously mentioned having been a loyal customerfor well over 20 years. In fact 2 members of staff actually house / pet sat for us during the day of my goddaughters wedding. And then came as guests at night ! Her attitude is diabolical and customer service non existent !
Always fabulous food from here, they don't have a delivery service but it's easy enough to phone your order through and call in to pick it up once it's ready. Highly recommended. Just tried one of their all day dinners and can definitely say it's well worth the money.
I used to love this Chinese take it was the best in southport. I have no idea what has happened. Dinner box was always my favourite meal it was great to share with the family. We would order various ones. However, we hadn't been for 3 years, so we decided it would be nice to have a treat have our favourite takeaway. Sorry, but it was awful! There was no meat on the spare ribs. They were nearly all fat . Far too many vegetables in each dinner box. We played spot the meat in each box. How much rice ? Most of the Dinner box was veg and rice .. that definitely not what we paid for or remember. Chips were also undercooked, and the number of chips that had the black and green bits on ... the over rip / under part of the potatoe was ridiculous. It was unfortunately put in bin, and we ordered from, so where else. I never give a bad review on places because of its personal preference at the end of the day. But unfortunately, this takeaway is not the legend it was yrs ago. And as for the staff.... wow.... how rude and short now. The former staff always had a smile and actually engaged in conversation with you while you were waiting. I definitely won't be returning. It's so sad that it's gone like this. But that's just my personal opinion.
Best chippy in Southport ???? love it. I moved around a couple times and always go back here. Sadly they don't do delivery. It gets very busy during peak times.. So it's worth ringing up prior - if they say 20 minutes.. your food will be ready but dealing with all the orders you could wait a bit longer whilst in the shop, so always allow for that.
This is the best overall Chinese takeaway.
My favourites are satay, tibetan, wor tap and mapo.
Special dinner box is a great deal for those who want a little variety.
