We were so nervous arriving here because of some of the bad reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised! Ok I will start with the not so good things….|The hot tub was cold when we arrived despite being told that it would be ready. Apparently it had been cleaned but there was a piece of glass in there so I’m not sure about that! Some of the tiles in the bathroom are a bit wobbly but nothing overly concerning, and the cooker is hard to use as all the info on the knobs has faded so it’s a guessing game basically. |However, the lodge was really really lovely! We stayed in Flare number 4. Really clean when we arrived, comfortable, warm, spacious. Beautiful canal walk in the area which we made the most of in the sunshine, it was really pretty and relaxing. We stayed as a friendship group (3 people) and had the most fun weekend. We would all return happily.
Very poor with even worse communication from the host. |Whilst the Hopper Cottage was relatively clean, it's all very run down. Sofa/chairs incredibly uncomfortable, bed was 2 mattresses stacked up (didn't feel safe) so again, uncomfortable, crockery chipped or missing, tap leaking which meant water on the floor. TV wasn't working and wouldn't link to their Internet (provides WiFi but was better on phone!). |Hottub didn't work, was cold when we arrived. Phoned and was told it just takes a while but someone would be out. No-one turned up until the next day. Had to chase to find out it was broken and wouldn't be fixed during our stay. Also, the state of the hottub felt dangerous! Says to call or send WhatsApp messages - all ignored. So disappointing, didn't feel that host cared about our experience at all.
Absolutely loved this place .

A lovely romantic break with my boyfriend, hot tub was lovely. It feels so isolated, but only a 5 minute drive into town
I stayed in the Flare, quite run down, floor tiles in bathroom loose and just generally a bit dark and depressing and neats a brighten up. People were in the lodge when arrived, got in as the code to the key safe is too similar to eachother. Manager did come and sort it out but took a while as my children were tired and hungry in the car. Didnt come back the next day to tidy up after the people who had been in it even though he said he would. Wouldnt go back there. Also hot tub jets were not all working.
We had a fantastic long weekend staying in the “hilltop” cottage everything we needed was there and very comfortable. |Very good size lounge and well equipped kitchen. We would definitely go back. The location is picturesque and very quiet.
The Wharf rooms were clean and tidy, the dishes & oven however needed to be cleaned as had food stuck. The hot tub has seen better days and needs repairing some if the jets no longer work, i found a snail in the tub - i wonder if it enjoyed its experience ???? it would have been nice to have been informed the septic tank was going to be emptied during our stay. The wooden lid is rotten and needs replacing.
What a lovely place, the hilltop is so clean and cosy, great hot tub , and sue so welcoming , don’t get confused with other cottages , as the hilltop is 5*|Recommend and wookey hole, the Indian restaurant villa verde ,|Shopping in Taunton . And the Somerset museum ,
