I recieved a gift certificate for $175 to What Tattoo and texted my artist (Stephanie) May 21st to set an appointment. I let her know that I was moving June 13th and was hoping for an appointment before then.On May 22nd she got in touch with me letting me know it would be no problem and we could set an appointment for June 7th and I would just need to drop off a deposit. Once I did that on May 24th she then let me know my appointment to June 11th at 12:30. Already irritated because I move only two days after that i agreed and caused no issues. 2 weeks and 3 days go by and I drive in to Wasilla from Anchorage to show up early to my appointment. 15 minutes goes by and my artist had still not arrived and I sent her a message asking if we were still meeting that day. In return she says "I don't have you in for today .... I wonder if I spaced writing you In... Shit I see I gave you that date ... but I didn't write it in!!! I'm sorry I'm going to have to move it." Thus I reminded her I moved in two days. She then let me know she doesnt do refunds and was not able to reschedule because "That's too soon . I feel bad . I can give you the GC back and you can re gift it or sell it ?" The whole process was very messy and unprofessional. I was looking forward to having her art on my arm but was very disappointed in a service I didnt even recieve.
My kids and I decided to get matching tattoos. My daughter has come to this spot before so she set it all up. I have never had a tattoo before so I was a little anxious going in.
Stephanie is amazing. She was very helpful with regard to coloring, care, and the entire process. This made me feel very relaxed and comfortable.
Throughout my tattoo she chatted me up and kept me distracted and bam 45min later, with only a little face-scrunching pain later ????...I have my first tattoo.
It's been 3 days since I had this done and the derm she put over the tattoo is amazing. It helped heal everything really well.
Will definitely be going back to her to add on to the tattoo I got.
Krystal is the most gentle touch I've experienced, and she gets to know and understand her clients and their unique needs. She can find ways to get the job done when you think you may not be able to! Book ahead, she's popular.
Horrible through and through. she was very uncertain on prices. I paid $100.00 in cash for the deposit and she said the rest was due at the time of the appointment. I later used Venmo to transfer her another $300 to cover the rest of the cost of the tattoo.
The day before my appointment she messages me and askes me to move the date of my appointment so she can take care of her kid. I oblige as a curtesy.
The next appointment day comes and she messages me again to ask for me to move the appointment due to her "been in the bathroom all day". I oblige again and ask her for a refund because I no longer have time in my schedule for the next few months and I am not sure when I will be able to sit for a tattoo. She agrees to refund me. She also asked for a week to get the money together so she can refund me. I oblige again.
One week later and she sends me $200 of the total $400 back. I ask for the rest and she claims that She will not refund me because she "does not refund deposits." Then she moved on to claim that her deposit should have been $500 and not $200 and that she was being nice in refunding me $200.
Now I must go to small claims court to get my money back.
Had a blast getting my first tattoo here! Krystal is honest and a great artist. She even added a lil to my tattoo idea that made it even better! She made the experience 100% comfortable starting higher on my forearm instead of my wrist to kinda give me a feel for how the tattoo gun feels.1000% will go back to her to complete my left sleeve and would highly recommend this shop!!

We've been enjoying Krystal's art for years and have commissioned her for a few projects and she has always been spectacular. quick responses, optimism and positive attitude and constantly exceeding expectations and requirements. from the walls of our house, to our Tshirts, life would be way less interesting and colorful with out her.
I enjoy talking and seeing my ideas come to a beautiful piece done by Stephanie, love that she's so easy to talk with and makes the session go smoothly from start to finish. Always excited for our next tattoo session! Love What Tattoo, Stephanie & Krystal are awesome!
