Eva is a horrible person and barber. Tony is much better. It is very expensive to get a haircut there. $50 for a regular haircut and $3 to use a card. Will not take my husband there again.
Came as a walk in and was not disappointed. Staff is very friendly, nice old school atmosphere. Tony accommodated me and did an excellent job on my hair cut, beard trim. Prices are on the higher side but the service is top notch. Unfortunately after Covid this seems to be the new norm. Will be back for my next cut.
Overpriced and takes a lot longer than it should. Standard haircut is $48 for men. That’s rather pricey considering you can get one at Floyd’s in the city for $35 and half the time. Made an appointment and still took an hour and half from start to finish for a simple trim on the top and the sides.
Update, Tony still consistently does a fantastic job. He is a real artist!
Tony does a great job. Men's haircut took about a hour. They have a great variety of hours some days until 9pm. Update:Tony still doing a fantastic job. He takes his artwork very seriously and professionally.
This is my go-to place, its very pleasant and relatively private since its a small shop. They offer you coffee and make great conversation, and are lgbtq friendly which is nice. Prices are good, and cut is expertly done. Ava is who I go to, very reliable.
Racist. Went here for the first time to find a new barber and the older woman running it is racist. She started off weird but seemingly nice until she claimed Indians are an unhygienic people because they never give her napkins at dunkin donuts!? The haircut is bad too, though of course it ended early in a hurry. No one should ever go here.
I was in search of a new barber and decided to give Tony at Westgate a try. I gave him a little direction, showed him a picture, he asked some questions, and the result was great! I liked that he sought confirmation on the style before he buzzed away. The shop is conveniently located, well appointed, peaceful, yet busy enough that you feel like you're getting service from experienced barbers. I plan to return.
This review is long overdue. I have a relationship with Ava at Westgate Barbers that goes back a long time. Don't worry it is a strictly professional relationship. She cuts my hair the way I like it done and I pay her fee (and of course a tip.) I could not be more satisfied.
The shop is well located in the heart of booming downtown Oak Park and comfortable and welcoming.
I sit there as Ava does my simple "old man haircut" and watch as the customer in the next chair is having his facial hair sculpted into a work of art. Watching that makes me wish I could grow a face full of hair. (But I really don't think my wife would like the feel of my facial hair rubbing on her.)
