Fantastic little cafe. The food is fresh, tasty and homemade. The cakes are simply delicious as are their handcrafted coffees. The staff are always super friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. They can accommodate larger groups of customers, a fantastic stop off on an energetic bike ride! I have attended a workshop here recently and would recommend to anyone who is visiting the area. Well done Wendy’s.
Did I enjoy eating at Wendy’s, Usk? I certainly did, and so too did the other 7 people who ate the most delicious breakfasts today. Sausage, bacon, eggs, baked beans, plumb tomatoes, hot buttered toast, mushrooms and black pudding filled our plates…. and our stomachs too! All piping hot and sourced from really good ingredients. Attentive and speedy service topped off this cracker of a cafe. Washed down with a generous pot of tea and all for under a tenner! If you haven’t tried this place before I’d heartily recommend it . Thank you!
I've frequented Wendy's with both family and colleagues many times, even during busy times we have been greeted with a smile and an apology for any wait. Food is always great and good value for money. Highly recommended, never had a bad experience. If in a large group I'd recommend ordering all together if you wish to eat together as you would anywhere else!
This is such a great cafe serving lovely home cooked food at very reasonable prices. Wendy and her small team could not be more helpful and accommodating which is why it is so popular.
I was there last week with a friend for sausage, egg and chips. It was perfect.
Wendy is also a fantastic support to Usk Volunteer Litter Pickers who clean up the town once a month. Wendy insists on providing a warm welcome and free teas, coffees and cakes too! Incredible.
Michelle de Witt do you really think that a public house cafe would be able yo accommodate 8 people without a prior booking on bank holiday are you for real, do you think you could walk into any public house and book food, I’m sure most places wouldn’t have been so kind.
If it would have been my business I would have called the police and taken car registrations. Wendy deserve respect and kindness not abuse, who do you think you are you need to delete these reviews you didn’t even pay for your drinks, who does that!!
You should be ashamed of yourself and the part of people with you, you’re to blame next time try booking in advance Usk garden centre wouldn’t have accepted that behaviour or been able to cook for 8 without a booking how dare you abuse this family.
De Witt family let’s put your pictures on social media for establishments to know you don’t like to pay non payers at least most of Usk know who you are now
As weekly Sunday regulars, my mum and I love coming to Wendy's for breakfast. All the food is fresh and cooked to order with very few delays. The cafe is easily accessible from the carpark with plenty of seating for village regulars and other visitors alike.
My husband has been to this little cafe previously and can vouch for the food. Unfortunately today the service was simply unacceptable and a clear indication that this local cafe can handle small tables of local customers but not big groups. At no point was there any screaming and unfortunately, due to the staff being unwilling to take any later orders for food, we offered to pay for drinks and leave. We simply could not accept the adults being served food whilst our young adult children were refused due to them not ordering food together with drinks,
perhaps staff could have politely communicated that due to volumes it would be preferableto order food and drinks together (a misunderstanding) . I even advised that we would be willing to wait the advised 30 minute delay but unfortunately the staff refused at this point. Very unfortunate as the venue is quaint and plenty of free parking. A perfect spot for locals as can be seen in the positive reviews all being posted today.
Confused customer I happened to come into the cafe with my two colleagues, just before the party of unhappy 8. I sat between the group and the counter so a good spot to hear all. The group came and started moving tables and chairs they were In deed informed that due to health and safety and access to the museum they can not move the tables and were required to return them to the normal place . The table of four with the old people on ordered food and drinks at same time while the table of younger adults (not children) as I could have sworn at least one of them arrived on a Motorbike, just ordered drinks and when the waitress asked if there was anything else they said no. So when the table wanted to order food later they were informed that be a delay as a number of other food orders had gone in. To me this seems reasonable as you can't expect any business large or small to move priorities of cooking food just so you could have food at the same time as the first table which by this time I could see and hear was ready to dishes up. At no point did the staff refuse to serve you food you were not even charged for the drinks which all eight had and the food which was cooked and went to waste after you left. As a regular customer to Wendy's I have never had an issue always friendly, food is always lovely and freshly cooked so always happy to wait if they are busy. I have been here in small and large groups and even with my very messy nephews and nothing has ever been a problem. I also do not understand why it's requires at least five of you group to make individual complaints when one would have done.
