It was horrible! The shower dribbled water and made this horrific noise. The bathroom sink leaked all over the floor. There was absolutely no AC. I turned it to high fan, and turned the temperature all the way down. It never got below 83 degrees in the room. The bed sloped to one side, and the pillows were lumpy. I could have been more comfortable sleeping in my car. The worst part of the whole experience was that they charged $130+ for it.
I will be contacting the Health and Safety department of Nevada.
UPDATE: The room was not under my name it was my friend who booked it. I tried to call the Nugget 3 times since posting my review but no one will answer the phone.
When we checked in the room we reserved a jacuzzi suite was not available. We took a standard room instead. The room was not very clean. Hand prints and smears all over the windows. Peeling paint or wallpaper by the furnace/AC unit. First night the room was very hot. Called the front desk but they sent no one to fix it. I had to go to the front desk in person the next morning to get someone to come fix the AC. We also had problems with machines not printing tickets at cash out. In the high limit room a very nice floor manager helped get us a ticket. Later at the martini bar a poker machine did not print. A different floor manager came. She pulled out a jammed paper said she would be back but never did. We found her an hour later. When we approached her I didn’t ever get a sentence out and she was very rude and said that ticket was redeemed. I tried to explain my husband never even moved from the machine and she wouldn’t listen just said very disrespectfully she would not do anything about it. Either she gave it to the wrong person or she kept it herself. The bartender over there Thursday night was great. He apologized and gave me free drinks. Said they have problems with the machines at that bar all the time.
Over all bad stay. Will not go back!
This place has been doing well lately, especially if you enjoy playing slots. They have a wide selection of amazing new games, and for high rollers, they offer generous comps. I highly recommend this place. I won some nice jackpots last time I was here. Request the new rooms, as they are really great. If you're a high roller, ask for Douglas. I'm glad I've been playing more here than at the other place. The food is not bad at all! However, the steakhouses are severely lacking. They need to do something about that. That would be a one-star rating for me, but everything else food-wise is easily four stars.
Douglas is the best casino host ever. He’s very genuine and cares about you and he really takes care of all your needs.
My biggest gripe was that when I reserved my room I was told I needed to put a 100$ down payment... This is NOT TRUE and staff will look at you funny when you check in and tell them that you paid a down payment. I will note that I wasn't actually charged the down payment as I was originally told... But I did wait a good amount of time in the lobby while they sorted things out. The rooms are adequate (not gross .. but not great). They also don't have a gym and the pool was closed.
Ok so my wife and I went to celebrate for our anniversary, we stayed at another casino for the night and stopped at the nugget on our way out of town.
We played had fun then realized it was getting late we had a free room we used and the gentleman Stephen at the front desk helped us and even gave us a "better" room Thank you again Stephen! Amazing job!
He gave us a room with a jacuzzi in it we were so surprised and shocked.
Then we had a slight issue with a someone following and asking us for money and security was right on top of it and the bar tender and waitress took excellent care of us as we played and enjoyed our time.
The Cafe was great and the service was wonderful speedy and the food was great! We already trying to play a trip back. Thank you for a great evening.
All around it was a great time would and have recommended the nugget to family and friends! And I left with a little bit more money from a penny slot so definitely heading back. Oh and the last thing that may seem silly but their bill breaker machines don't just give 100 when you cash out they break into 20s as well so you don't have to stand there and use the machine over again when there is a line of people.
Again Stephen was the the most helpful front desk person I have had at any of the hotel casinos out in Wendover.
I would hope he would get at very least a good job and atta boy but feel he may deserve a raise! Good people in customer service are hard to find! THANK YOU AGAIN!
Some of the rooms still have work to be done. One of the rooms we were in, was supposedly finished, but had patches on the wall...otherwise nice. Very nice showers, cool lighting details.
Our steakhouse meals were excellent! The last day at breakfast things were not cooked correctly, pancakes were cold, people who ordered the same thing revived what appeared to be different menu selections...edible but not the best dining experience.
Overall, we had a great time, casino host Doug is very nice, very professional and very attentive.
This was THE worst place to stay! We paid almost 300. For a room(yes it was the weekend , but hear me out) the room was gross, we didn't even dare use the shower! The elevator at one time we waited 10 minutes, only one working! The pop machine was warm, we went for a nice place to ear. Brought the food to the room...no fridge, no microwave...no coffee! The nightstands had sticky drink marks. Wanted to get money back, or even a little discount! Nope they are telling me I have to go to the person I booked the room through, so I called them and they said it's up to the Nugget! Anyways ... try any other place before you book here!
Going there (Wendover, NV) was based on attending a concert. Upon arriving, we were informed that the "King room" we booked actually did not exist at the price we paid. To get a King, in the remodeled section of the hotel, it would cost $370. Unless free meals and 90-minute massages were part of the deal, there was no way I'd pay that much for a room with reviews as poor as the Nugget has. So we settled on a 5th floor double queen in the "Tower" side. Essentially, the furniture was old, and the table top finish was sticky, not because it hadn't been well cleaned, but because the finish is simply old. The chairs at the table had no support, so when you sat in them, you were much lower than comfortable to use the table to eat at or for games. The flooring, although well vacuumed, was grossly dirty. The room was hot! Not warm, but hot! Turning on the AC was almost pointless, as it blew warm air despite its setting of 65°. Opening the window until it reached the allowed width to do so helped a little. What would help the most would have been to keep the hallway door open, which pulled outside air through the room, cooling it down. Sounds incredibly safe, doesn't it? We did not bother to notify the front desk, this is not a new problem for them. It will take a huge retrofitting of the entire AC system to improve their problems house wide.
There was no refrigerator, as stated on the website.
The water pressure was pretty minimal. Anyone with thick hair would have a hard time rinsing shampoo/ conditioner out. However, the water was warm.
There are no bedspreads... just sheets. Clean sheets. The beds were comfortable enough. Due to the room heat, we slept on top of the bedding. The towels were moderately fluffy, unstained, and served their purpose.
The toilet flush was sketchy, and at check out, we overheard another guest state that their toilet was near the overflow point and that maintenance had not shown up yet to fix the issue. Coincidence, their room was next to ours! We will not stay there again. With the consistent low reviews, there does not seem to be a concern by the owners to make changes that would bring ppl back. And the ridiculous pricing of remodeled rooms isn't justified by their lack of investment back into their business and their customers.
My advice is to avoid staying here unless you don't mind elevators that don't work, non existent AC, poor signage, empty ice machines, and minimal if any level of basic comforts.
